Which Jackets Work With Summer Dresses? These.

I’ve been a hater of spring (and chilly-summer) dressing for awhile now. Why? Because it’s SO HARD to get right. I usually get both hot and cold super easily, so layering is a bit of a puzzle when I want to actually look good. Because throwing on a sweatshirt doesn’t always work, you guys. I wanna be cute!!

In our latest vid, Shana tries on 9 jackets that work with summer dresses, which is arguably one of the hardest games of mixing & matching silhouettes. She called it her “lifelong quest” to nail precisely which jackets go with which dresses (I loled) – but she’s correct. It’s something I’ve been aiming to conquer for forever too. Sooooo.. thanks S! Haha she always does the hard work for us (AKA tries on a bajillion things to find the best).

No More Denim Jackets with Dresses: Here’s What to Wear Instead

Shana says moto jackets are too heavy (and a bit tired) and she’s 100% over classic denim jackets. (Same here. They’re just… ehhhh anymore. So many cuter ones out there.) S tries the jackets with mini, maxi, swingy & fitted summer dresses to find which styles can replace those old standbys for each of her go-to dress options.

And btw, if you MUST go denim, S provides the best silhouette to try that feels a good deal fresher & more updated than the classic style we’ve all donned in the past.

Incredibly creative and artistic, Abby is the one we turn to for absolutely jaw-dropping, stunning curation. She’s got a knack for finding hidden gems and has the ability to make any space beautiful, plus her own style is enviable. Abby is one of the few team members who is not afraid of color, so her contributions (both digitally and in real life) feel like a breath of fresh air. She manages to come up with options that are both wildly original…and exactly what we want to wear.

    • Yes!! Obviously it depends on your climate, but it pairs beautifully with every kind of dress. I’d be remiss if I left it out.

  1. Any options for those of us in the south where it is 90+ outside? We need lightweight options for AC inside in the summer. Lightweight summer sweater or linen options? All of these options are way too hot!

    • I personally wear the 100% cotton sweaters all summer long. But linen works, too. The important point here is the shape, not the fabric. Whether linen or cotton, a cropped (and slightly boxy) sweater or a slouchy cardigan (that you can play around with the buttons) are the best with dresses.
Faherty makes a linen cardigan that would work: https://shopstyle.it/l/cb09e
Solid & Striped makes a really breezy cropped sweater: https://shopstyle.it/l/cb07B
