Happy Friday! With spring just a week away (!!), the sales this weekend are really good. Like… pinch me, good. No luck needed to find a golden deal. Especially since our editors did the digging, finding their top recommendations from our favorite retailers. Let’s get into it.

The kids and I made it to Chicago… barely. 😅 The 4AM wake-up was rough, but the real adventure started when our cat got escorted off the plane last minute (apparently, I missed some paperwork 🙃). Then Ozzie’s bag got stuck in the revolving doors—he almost went with it—before a kind stranger saved the day. Finally made it to the house by 7AM feeling like we’d already lived a lifetime… and, of course, the kids refused to nap (I did). By bedtime, exhaustion hit hard—Ozzie had a full-blown meltdown, and honestly, I felt the same. 😵‍💫 Hoping for a smoother, more fun-filled weekend ahead! 🤞🏼

Hey, hey Friday! Coming to you from the gorgeous Yucca Valley this weekend where it snowed the past couple of days! It didn’t stick, but what a cool thing to witness. We head back into Palm Springs today for the creative conference I’ve mentioned, Alt Summit. I’m excited to be inspired, as always, by the lovely peeps that attend and speak. While I couldn’t live in the desert full time, I’ve now realized that trips to a climate completely opposite from my own in Portland are so necessary. There’s something both magical and mysterious about it here and I love it. 

Sales are hopping this week. Shopbop has some of my favorite pieces, like this cutie hat I have been desperately wanting and included in my Alt Summit packing list, this Clare V bag I’ve wanted forever for spring/summer (yep, on sale!)… and then over at GAP, these wide-leg cuffed jeans that look incredible. Birkenstocks | Trench Coat

ONE: My favorite pair of Birkenstocks ever is actually on sale at Nordstrom right now! I don’t think I’ve ever seen the shearling lined on sale? I’ve worn a pair of these since 2020 and wear them almost every single day in the colder months. Honestly, I wear them only until it gets pretty hot. My feet get too hot in other slipper styles and these are so great for support around the house, too. Perfection. TTS but size up if between bc the shearling takes up a little more room as compared to the non-lined Birks. Top | Pants (part of this set also on sale!)

TWO: Spring is thankfully pretty much here right now, and my favorite jacket for this time of year is always a classic trench. GAP’s Icon Trench is so good and 40% off!

My baby girl will be 5 months tomorrow. FIVE. This time, motherhood has felt different. The healing work I did the past 5 years, the fact that she’s the third kid after an 8-year gap, and having experienced first hand that “it REALLY goes by fast” have allowed me to just be. And while I do feel I’m going through a huge transformation and rebirth which can feel tough at times, I’m loving myself and savoring motherhood more than ever. I am happy. 

At 5 months postpartum, I haven’t really purchased much. But as the warmer days feel closer, I’m itching to see what my style will evolve into in this new season of life. After getting the Miramar terry jeans (almost gone), I can see the value in these shorts. Denim -ooking with maximum comfort? I’m all in. And how about this tee? Obsessed.

Welp. Back to real life. Booooo. I’m home in Michigan, and wondering if my vacation was just a dream. I’m happy to be back, I missed Jon and my dog, Gus, but I’m also missing the sun and the unlimited pina coladas. At least it’s supposed to warm up around here soon. Time to plan the next trip, so I have something to look forward to.

ONE: Mango’s Granado Asymmetric Rib Sweater Skirt – Yes! My favorite skirt is on sale for 25% off at Nordstrom. I have been wearing this skirt basically non-stop since I got it. It’s comfortable and soft and very, very flattering. Well worth the purchase and under $60 now. 

TWO: Abercrombie’s YPB Tie Game Dress – This active dress (with attached shorts) was a huge winner on my spring break vacay. I wore it as a swimsuit cover, out sightseeing and even to dinner one night. It’s 25% off when you order on A&F’s App with the code: EXTRA25.

Gang, this morning, I placed the latte Chris had just made me on the hood of my car while I loaded up Ellie and our school stuff – and then, you saw it coming – promptly forgot about it. I made it all the way to Ellie’s school, and right as I reached down for a sip of it and realized my mistake, I glanced up, and there it was. Perfectly intact, sitting on the righthand side of my hood where I left it. If that’s not a sign that we’re heading into a good weekend, I don’t know what is. (Of note: there are several large dips, stop signs and a full-blown major highway crossing on the route to school. It’s not an insignificant drive, even in a small town. Also, it was raining. Someone wanted me to have a good day, just saying…)

Continuing on with the good times, did you know Gap’s barrel jeans come in 22 washes now!? All on sale – the railroad stripe feels like a need, not a want. I love the racerback on these silky pj’s (under $25 – and three colors are classically pretty). And would you believe I still don’t own a raincoat? I want something basic, classic and genuinely waterproof – looking at the Evergreen or the Orchid.

ONE: My oversized FP pullover is on sale in various colors (including mine) all over the web right now. This thing is the definition of comfy chic. It looks cool as heck but is just a big ol schleppy sweatshirt. Love the contrast at the split hem. Wearing an XS. Best selection is at Backcountry. Also at: Nordstrom | Zappos | Free People

This week I wore shorts for the first time of the season (year? since last fall, basically), along with my first shoes-without-socks moment AND we just had our first patio dinner last night (celebrating my husband’s birthday!). I think I’ve officially defrosted… but I’m still looking forward to some cooler spring days so I can style my trench coats a bit. 

Gap is hosting their big Friends & Family sale, so it’s the time to scoop up what you’ve been eyeing. This top is giving major Reformation vibes, but I think I am most smitten over this dress! But also, I just tried this sneaker in another colorway and they’re SUPER comfy + fun (that sand drift/royal/muslin color would be amazing for spring!)

ONE: I think probably my most useful purchases this winter were vests, and if you’re living someplace that is (or about to be) defrosting for spring, you’ll get so much wear out of this one! It’s fleece but lightweight, super-cozy-soft, and easy to wear for colder morning runs or as an extra layer for hikes, etc. Some more size/color options on sale over here, too.

Happy weekend! Hope you all get the chance to feel some sun on your face & smell the defrosting winter one last time (Spring Equinox is next Thurs!). The temps hit 60s in Philly a couple times this week and I soaked it in as best I could – outdoor reading, coffeeshop sipping, errand running in the warm breeze. God it feels so good. Bye winter!

Sales are pushing me for a spring wardrobe rebrand (but let’s be honest, that ain’t happening in entirety) – so I’m looking at a few pieces that will compliment my go-tos (white overalls, barrel jeans, track pants, low-profile sneakers) easily. Currently eyeing: this DÔEN-esque top, this short sleeve sweatshirt, and this fun bag.

ONE: One of my favorite lightweight jackets is this floral bomber by Free People. It’s the perfect weight for just a little extra bit of warmth on breezy spring days. Runs large! I’m in a small.
