Who goes plant shopping on their birthday? This girl. I’m serious about plants, lately. See face above.

But, seriously, I’ve been wanting to check out the gorgeous Solabee Flowers for a while so for my birthday it was. And seeing as I just turned…gasp…39, I’m pretty sure I can do whatever the heck I want on my birthday. Well, as long as it’s just shopping for plants or something. #woahgettingcrazy Look at this place though! The light and the foliage and the gorgeous tile floor (see below)…who wouldn’t want to go?

I know y’all never see me in heels, but sometimes even I want to jazz it up a bit, especially on a special day. I got these fancy cheetah print heels a bit ago and wanted to put my spin on an outfit with them…

Of course, my spin on fancy heels is ripped girlfriend jeans and a cozy sweater. It’s still me, but just enough fun and fancy for some shopping and a night out. I don’t generally love heels with jeans, but the boyfriend or girlfriend style just pair so well with them. A flat shoe is hard to pull off with the slouchy jean, but add some height in a sexy little package and voila…a really chic, but I-didn’t-try-too-hard look.

Sweater – Anthropologie (sold out!) Here’s a Similar warm version or I’m loving this lighter weight option for spring. I’d size up on that for a slouchy look.

Jeans – Citizens of Humanity Emerson Ripped Slim Boyfriend – I really love these. You may have seen them on my IG feed a bit ago. They have seriously the perfect wash. They run just a tiny bit big and I think I could’ve tried one size down, but they’re soooo comfy.

Heels – JCrew Lana Calf D’Orsay – I love these shoes. I don’t often wear actual pumps and these are so great. I’m partial to a d’orsay style because they’re so flattering on the foot. These really are a great pair of shoes and though I can’t walk all day in them, due to their height, they took no breaking-in period and are seriously good quality.

Bag – Rebecca Minkoff Julian Backpack

Earrings – Sole Society Gold Plated Bar Earrings – Love that these can be worn horizontally or vertically for a different look.

My Favorite Slim Boyfriend Jeans and Fancy Heels

For the evening festivities, some friends and I got together for dinner at the ever-delicious Toro Bravo for Spanish tapas and adult beverages…and amazing conversation and camaraderie. I adore getting my friends together because many of them aren’t friends otherwise. It’s so fun to see everyone you love interacting and cracking each other up. It warms my sometimes-chilly heart.

Wine + delicious food + cozy atmosphere + fancy heels + friends = the perfect birthday. (Oh, and that cheesecake above…omg, unlike any other and I am a cheesecake connoisseur.)
