It’s back to school time!! And this year Greenlea is going into Kindergarten. It’s kind of hard to believe that she’s actually that old already. But when I saw these pictures, some of them caught me completely off guard. She looks so old it actually took my breath away. Is that really my first-born, all ready to start school?
I have this jar of marbles that represents the number of weeks we have with our kids until they turn 18. It’s a visual representation of how precious time is . . . And boy does time fly when it comes to our babies. Greenlea’s saying “I can do it by myself” more and “I’m not a baby” more, and there’s a part of me that just wants to grab her and hold her and tell her to never leave mommy! But then I reel the crazy in and am just really, really proud of the little girl she’s growing up to be. And I remind myself we still have time. And when those moments come when she wants snuggles from mama, I’m gonna soak them up as much as I possibly can.
It’s a scary transition when your oldest goes into school. Luckily for G (and mainly me, let’s be honest), she has cousins who are SO helpful when it comes to getting her excited about school. They’re the sweetest boys. They know—with 100% certainty—that their job is to calm her fears and help her feel confident about going into kindergarten. School=always SO fun and exciting when discussed around G. (Around parents, maybe not so much.)
