Things that make me happy:  warm night air on my skin (no jacket needed), Pax’s freckled nose, holding Raines’ hand when we walk (even though he’s somehow ten already), and pretty little dresses.

Pretty little dresses are such a simple pleasure, but they often make me feel like my life is so much more glamorous than it is.  Like I’m in a movie or something.  [girl rises, gracefully, and pours herself a drink.  Cut to shot of everyone watching her, transfixed.  And SCENE.]

Or maybe pretty little dresses are just a far cry from my usual daily uniform of workout gear (on a good day) or sweatpants.

Whatever the reason… [girl stares into middle distance, thoughtfully]…there’s something special about a dress.

My personal favorites are dresses that aren’t overly fussy, dresses that can actually be worn every day, but dresses that, nonetheless, have something a little special.  [girl shrugs, nonchalant. “This old thing?”]

LOFT reached out, asking me to take a look at their current line of pretty little dresses, just in time for Mother’s Day, and I think they nailed it.  So on the next warm almost-summer night, I donned a pretty dress, took the kids to Dilworth Park, and….was reminded why we typically pack them both a change of clothes.  Oops.
