Tim Gunn once said, “when it comes to dressing, comfort is overrated. A little discomfort probably means your clothes fit and they’re not pajamas.” I love Tim Gunn, but I have to disagree with this one. Sometimes you want your clothes to feel like pajamas, am I right?? You want to look fabulous and feel like you’re wearing pjs. OK, maybe not all the time, but definitely around the holidays when you’re wanting to look festive and dressy, but you’re also chasing kids around and eating all the things.
Well, ladies, I’ve found the perfect solution from Nordstrom: jumpsuits. Stretchy, comfy, and yes fabulous jumpsuits for all of the holiday occasions that are on your calendar this year.
2 Gorgeous Jumpsuits, Dressed Up For Winter
1. Head-To-Toe Textured Black Jumpsuit
Black will forever and always be my favorite color to wear. It’s chic, it’s flattering, and I just played around with textures a bit to add a little dimension. The glitter, the chiffon, the lace, the leather–it all works together in black.
jumpsuit: Julia Jordan Wide Leg Jumpsuit – size 4, I sized down according to reviews and glad I did. The pants are stretchy and this one is super-comfy.
jacket: [BLANKNYC] Faux Leather Jacket – I’ve wanted this one for years and finally got it–I don’t know why I waited so long! It’s a stylish way to add some warmth over a jumpsuit (or dress) that can still fit under a bigger winter coat.
earrings: Stella & Ruby Chiffon Petal Hoop Earrings – In a bunch of colors — so fun and festive.
boots: Sam Edelman Hilty Bootie – 30% off! These ankle boots go with everything! (Also in black suede here).
clutch: Rebecca Minkoff Leo Glitter Clutch – my most-worn bag. It goes with anything from denim to dresses and everything in between. Also in silver and multi-colored glitter.
2. Luxe (Yet Comfy) Velvet Jumpsuit
To me, this is the best part about wearing jumpsuits — they’re SO ridiculously comfortable. This one felt like my favorite pjs but looks super-luxe thanks to the velvety fabric. Right now there are so many stretchy comfy jumpsuits to choose from–in velvet, velour, even stretch jersey–that look and feel amazing. Just statement earrings, and you’re good to go!
jumpsuit: Fraiche By J Velvet Jumpsuit – Also in burgundy or black, but I like the crinkled texture of the taupe. I’m wearing a size M because I like the slightly slouchy fit. (I’m usually a size 6, and the m=6-8 so I’d say it fits tts!). Nursing-friendly thanks to the small button on top, and postpartum-friendly thanks to the tie belt at the waist.
jacket: [BLANKNYC] Faux Leather Jacket – Loving the strong shoulders! This jacket has been on my radar for years, and I’m glad I finally bought it. Such a good layering piece.
earrings: Stella & Ruby Petal Chiffon Statement Earrings – I’ve been lusting after these amazing earrings for years. GORGEOUS. Another purchase I should have made a long time ago!
boots: Jeffrey Campbell Siren Bootie – I love the stretchy neoprene fabric on these boots and how comfortable they are for heels. I love the tighter fit around the ankle, too, that doesn’t rub even without socks.
clutch: Rebecca Minkoff Leo Glitter Clutch – My most-worn “party” bag. It goes with anything from denim to dresses and everything in between. Also in silver and multi-colored glitter.
