We had the opportunity to head up to NY a few weeks ago for an Amazon Prime Day Preview. The focus was on fashion, which we found especially helpful, since we like to see (and feel) products before recommending them. As a bonus, Amazon had created cute little vignettes for shooting, so a couple of our photos take the concept of #dressingroomselfies to a whole other level.
Per usual, we’re trying to keep things really tightly edited. Everything on this list I’ve either tried on and loved…I personally own…or I’m seriously considering. I’ve divided things up into fashion, a few can’t-live-without home and travel items, back-to-school for kids (look at me, so on the ball), and a couple of things I’m considering for Mike.
Amazon Prime Day Picks
Sorry about the glamour shots…I couldn’t help myself.
One Show-Stopping Dress
Keepsake the Label Asymmetrical Midi Dress (size small)
Three Surprisingly Comfortable Pairs of Shoes
These are my favorite pair of shoes in the sale. I wore them around for a while, shocked by how comfortable they were until I realized: Loeffler Randall. Of course. Totally worth the price.
Another Loeffler Randall find…these silver beauties. Insanely comfortable (that leather upper is SO soft) and the heel is high, but very walkable.
I don’t really understand the bad review on these J/Slides sneakers. I found them impossibly lightweight, super comfy, and cute.
Two Cardigans I Actually Wear
I’ve been meaning to feature both of these for a while…but only the tie-front made it up in time (see the original article here). But they’re both worth snapping up – even full price, they’re a steal (and both happen to be on sale). I might actually pick them up in another color….hmmm….
A Few More Prime Day Finds That Caught My Eye
Loeffler Randall is winning Prime Day. And since I’m a recent convert to Levis, I was thrilled to see them in the sale (SIZE UP), as well as the typical Frye gorgeousness.
The Fifth Label Dress – I love a dress that looks cute with sneakers, and this is definitely that dress. Size up.
Loeffler Randall Tall Boots – I have literally been drooling over these Loeffler Randall boots since tall boots were a thing. And while I won’t be pulling mine over jeans anytime soon…with dresses? Midis? Skirts? All the YES.
Frye Booties – if the Vince taupe booties from the NSALE are too pricey…these have a similar vibe (and a very walkable heel).
Loeffler Randall Ballet Flats – I will never not love these flats. In any color.
Frye Handbag – Since the NSALE try-on, I’ve been in a taupe bag kick. (It IS my favorite color to wear year-round.) If you tend to like bags bigger than the ones I choose (and I typically go pretty small)….this satchel kiiiind of blew my mind.
Levi’s White Skinny Jeans – These are Levi’s high-rise skinnies, and they’re really good. Size up (I’m typically a 25, sometimes a 24…and in Levis I’m a solid 26)…and they come in a ton of colors. I’m partial to the white – I love how the distressing keeps them from feeling too preppy.
Levi’s Wedgie Jeans – these are some of Julieta’s favorite jeans. I’ve been dying to try them, and there are three really solid washes on sale for Prime day. This one is my current fav, but the gray one (if you click through) is washed black perfection.
Amazon Prime Day Picks for Guys
These are not technically “Mike approved”….but I’ve been batting a solid 75% lately, so close enough?
Nixon Watch – OBSESSED with the seriously fresh color combo. That mint green….with the tan….so freaking good. I’d wear this, and I think Mike would love it as a ‘summer watch’. Like that it doesn’t take itself so seriously.
21 Palms Hawaiian Shirt – This brand has some seriously cool vintage prints – click through to see all of them – but this brown & black floral is my fav for Mike. And they run pretty big, so size down.
Calvin Klein Underwear – Uhhh…….right. Underwear we like.
Adidas Superstars – I might actually get Raines a pair too – they go down to a size 4.
Cole Haan Sneakers – Isn’t the leather detail kind of cool?
Goodthreads Black Tee – We’ve been really impressed with this Amazon brand. Mike has a button-down from them and it’s one of his favs. I suspect the tees are good, too.
Amazon Prime Day Picks For Kids
For The Playroom
Braided Rug – I don’t need it, but I’m obsessed with it, so now I’m trying to figure out where it could go.
Wooden Organizer – SOOOO tempted to get this for all the art doodads.
Wooden Block Set – my kids have *almost* grown out of block sets, but when they DO play, it’s mostly some sort of army-man game and these would make a pretty epic base. If my guys were smaller I wouldn’t even hesitate.
Stretched Canvas – A set of pre-stretched canvas might be reallllllly fun for making Christmas gifts….
Professional Brush-Tip Markers – we like high-quality art supplies around here, so getting them on sale is a must. These are really satisfying to use.
Under Armour Sweatpants – these are the one pair of sweatpants that don’t make my eyes bleed. We buy them every year.
Herschel Backpack – These Herschel youth backpacks come in some seriously cute prints…but this flower one was the best.
Pencil Case – love how rugged this one is. My boys keep one stocked with favorites for restaurants and travel.
Kindle Paperwhite – this model is the very best value, in my opinion. I have the fancier one…it’s not worth it. Raines previously had a kid Kindle, but it’s not backlit, so you can’t read it at night without a night light. I’m upgrading them both to one of these (Mike has this exact model as well).
Ipad – They would both rather pack an iPad when we travel so they can really see their games.
Acer Convertible Laptop – the best laptop for kids. This is the one Raines has been using for school, and I’m going to get one for Pax, too.
Headlamp – Ok, this isn’t really back-to-school, but my kids still love these, and we never seem to have enough.
Amazon Prime Day Home Favorites
Coffee Table Books: TRAVEL
Journeys of a Lifetime Book – this is the second edition of a book I’ve had my eye on for a while…snapping it up now.
The Bucket List Book – we have and LOVE this book. Even the boys page through it.
Peace & Quiet Book – the next edition of The Bucket List book. Ordering now.
These are both shockingly good deals. I especially like the sizes – 20″ (carry one) and 24″. 24″ is big enough to go somewhere for weeks…but not so big that you’ll overfill and end up over the weight limit.
Around The House
SodaStream Fizzi One Touch Sparkling Water Maker – we LOVE our soda stream. Newly made fizzy water with a fresh squeeze of anything beats the cans every time. (And both boys – and their friends – know how to use it.)
Dyson Vacuum – I was actually going to put this into the “For the Guys” section, haha…but the Linz mentioned that her little boys fight over who gets to use it. Training ’em young, Linz. I like it.
Dyson Air Purifier and Heater – This is a seriously sexy product, one I wouldn’t mind looking at year-round.
Happy Prime Day shopping, Gang.
(And if you guys are getting exhausted by the SHEER VOLUME of sales posts we’re doing…SO ARE WE. We’ll be returning to our regularly scheduled stuff tomorrow.)
