Typically, once summer rolls around, I dust off my old boyfriend jeans and call it a day. But since rises have been getting progressively higher and higher…my slouchy, low-rise boyfriend jeans suddenly look strange. And by “strange” I mean my legs look short.
Nobody wants that.
But summer is a Hard time for High-Rise (should be a song), so I’ve been looking for a jean that isn’t overly high-risen…just high enough to elongate those legs. Also, they must be soft, not too tight (skinny jeans are NOT my jam in 80+ degrees), and have some….what I’d like to call…artful ventilation.
So after trying on many expensive pairs of jeans with no luck…I was shocked when these $98 Levis hit alllll of my criteria.
Soft? YUP. Unlike most Levi’s I’ve tried, this pair actually has some stretch (and the denim is soft to begin with).
High Rise? High enough. And the butt…..?
….we’re going with good enough.
Outfit Details
cardigan: Daily Ritual Lightweight Tie-Front Cardigan – I know I’m normally a cardigan-hater, but I love this thing. It comes in a zillion colors, looks really cute with dresses (even Linzi agrees), and is currently on sale for $28. No joke.
tank: Shop Social Threads sent me this Z Supply V-neck tank and I love it. It’s almost sold out in white, but the washed black looks pretty cool, too. Size large is still in stock, but if you need a smaller size, there’s a few smalls left here, or mediums here.
jeans: Levi’s 724 Straight Crop – Size up!! I’m wearing a size 26 here, and I’m typically a size 25 (sometimes even a 24??? But jeans are either getting smaller or I’m getting bigger because I’ve been a pretty solid 25 lately.)
alternative jean recommendation: I’m also totally intrigued by the glowing reviews of this pair of Free People denim. They’re very similar to my Levi’s, but with an even looser, wider leg. Apparently, they’re super-soft, and flattering on curvy body types. Dying to order and try. Like my Levi’s, size up for a more comfortable fit.
flip-flops (if you care): I’ve only ever worn Reef’s Ginger flip-flops because I can’t stand anything other than soft fabric between my toes. HOWEVER….a friend of mine has been raving about Hari Maris and I really, really, really want this pair to work. They look way cooler than mine.
bag: Clare V. Pot de Miel – forever my favorite bag. Also at Nordstrom.
