I’ve been in full closet update mode lately, y’all. More to come on that in the coming weeks, but in the meantime I finally tried out a brand I have been curious about forever – one that has amazing, classic pieces if you’re looking to update, too.
Everlane. What took me so long? Until now I had only tried out one of their t-shirts and had ordered a couple tees for Pinky, too. I have no idea why. Their style, their branding, their quality, their philosophy as a company…all amazing.
If you haven’t checked them out, Everlane only works with ethical factories around the world and promises ‘radical transparency’ to their customers. From their website: “Each factory is given a compliance audit to evaluate factors like fair wages, reasonable hours, and environment. Our goal? A score of 90 or above for every factory.” Rad. They make it easy to shop basics and classic pieces with peace of mind.
Surprise, It’s Not All Jeans: Workwear Pieces
In the spirit of a closet update, I decided to try on some pants that weren’t jeans. I know. Who am I. But I LOVE these. They are super comfy, adorable and so Audrey Hepburn. I thought the mamas who work in an office might appreciate a little info on some items you could totally wear to the office.
Black Ponte Pants
The Stretch Ponte Crop Pant – These pants were so good. They’re fairly lightweight but still very flattering and well-made. They have a side zip closure and a nice soft ribboned waistband. They’d be great for work but also a great everyday alternative to jeans or leggings. Killer with sneakers for a more chic look. They’re very comfy. Wearing Size 4. TTS
The Day Heel – I adore this shoe. I kept it for a nice pop of color in my otherwise oh-so-neutral closet. I wore them to an event the other night with black skinny jeans, a striped button down and my leather jacket and it’s maybe my new favorite outfit. (You can actually see it on my Instagram highlights @elletrain under Outfit Favs) They fit TTS and though they’re a little bit tight in the toe box, they’ll stretch a bit since they’re a great leather. LOVE the color. The heel height is so doable and the back of the heel is elastic so it’s super comfy. Such a fun update.
Cashmere Sweater
The Cashmere Crop V-Neck in Frost Donegal – This sweater is lovely. I adore the neckline and it’s the perfect cropped length with a high rise pant. It’s definitely a nice soft weight, too, and a great cashmere for this price. This color is just beautiful. Wearing small. TTS.
Black & White Blouse
The Piped Silk Pocket Shirt – This silk top is so lovely and I adore the piping. It’s a beautiful shirt but it’s just too long for me. If I always wore shirts tucked in it would work, but it’s too long for the half-tuck I’ve come to love. Fits TTS otherwise, wearing a 4.
And for Casual Friday (or Anyday)
Tees & Jeans
The Mid-Rise Skinny Jean (Ankle) in Bone – These are a great white jean. So well made and not see-through…but they aren’t made for my stature or fit. They bunch in the knees, as you’ll see in all their jeans. Dang eeeet. Otherwise I love them. They fit a little on the small side. I’m wearing a 27 here and typically 27’s are just a tiny bit big on me and that was not the case with these. If you’re between sizes, size up.
The Heavyweight Tee – This is super flattering on. I love the fit and the colors of this lovely Breton striped top. The weight was too heavy for me though. I like a little more drape, but if you’re into structure in your tees this is for you. Wearing a Small.
The High Rise Skinny Jean Ankle – These actually got sent instead of a boxy silk tee in my order (customer service is great when I contacted them, btw). But um, yeah, they’re not for me. Wearing a size 28 which they actually sent the right size because these run small. I just can’t get into this wash, but it looks great on others. The rise was also too high for a non-stretch jean for me.
The Boxy Striped Tee – I loved this online but on me nah. It’s too cropped with the side slits and just not flattering. It’s very soft and well made though. Wearing a Small.
The Mid-Rise Skinny Jean (Ankle) – These are the same as the white jeans, but in black. If you’re shorter waisted at all like me definitely go with the mid rise. They were a great rise for me. Again, they run about 1/2 size small, so size up if you’re in between. Wearing size 27.
Other Finds
Silky Cami
The Double Lined V Neck Silk Cami – This cami is lovely and soft and so pretty for a classic dressy piece for date night, girls’ night, layering over a turtleneck, etc. It’s a decent price on a silk top, too. So lovely. Wearing size 4. TTS
Coats
The City Anorak – I adore this raincoat and am keeping it because #portland. It’s so cute and such a cute updated style. I ordered the smaller size to try and compare as this is a little big. Wearing a Small here. SO cute. Under $100. Love.
The Short Puffer Jacket – This is an adorably cropped puffer. Love the shape on this and it’s very cozy. Wearing a Small here but might have liked to try and xs, too. Comes in a couple of other colors.

I will always try new Everlane pieces from now on. I was so impressed with the quality and the style. And I could not be happier about finding an ethical company that still offers reasonable prices on great pieces. I highly recommend trying them out if you haven’t!
If you have tried Everlane out, what are your favorite pieces? I’d love to check them out, too! And stay tuned for Cam’s review of their denim, coming soon! It’ll be great to see how her thoughts compare to my findings.
Have a good one, y’all,
