Franklin Square is one of our favorite places to take the kids – there’s a decent playground, mini golf, and a gorgeous carousel. And it’s walking distance to some of our favorite Chinatown restaurants in Philly. (Or try a burger at the Square – they’re surprisingly good.)
But for the holidays, Franklin Square has created some sort of holiday extravaganza that is simply not to be missed. There’s a light show, carolers, and food trucks, if you come on Friday night. But in addition to all of that….
Yup. Tents with adult drinks (or hot cocoa for the kids) and fire pits outside so you can comfortably watch the light show. (Which obviously blew Pax’s mind.)
Instead of my usual denim and a sweater, I threw on a sparkly skirt and faux-fur jacket (it fit under the puffer). Because….well….HOLIDAYS, right? Why not?
wearing:
faux fur: old, but nevermind because this Topshop Faux-Fur Bomber jacket is EVERYTHING.
sweater (underneath): Bradamant Coquette bodysuit c/o (I’ve had this forever – so great under skirts)
skirt: ASTR skirt – sold out! But OOOO it also comes as a dress, or this stretchy little silver mini from Express would be comfortable (love these types of skirts over leggings). For a similar shape, try this Nolita Mini Skirt.
tights: Madewell which, annoyingly, are not available online….but they’re a sweater tight with little flecks. The closest I found is this dot pair by Hansel From Basel, an italian brand that makes jaw-droppingly good tights.
boots: old over-the-knee flat boots from Nine West – I love these over-the-knee boots by Louise et Cie (and 35% off!)
necklace: old J.Crew, but if you like the brightly colored baubles, you may like this Cara Stone Bib necklace.
puffer: Kate Spade Funnel Neck Puffer Coat with Bow c/o – almost completely sold out everywhere. Instead, try Sam Edelman’s puffer coat (on sale until 12/7) or Tahari’s funnel neck coat (only $99 at Nordstrom Rack)
Local Mamas, Franklin Square is so worth checking out. In addition to the light show, they also have craft afternoons for the kiddos, visits from Santa, and a ton of entertainment lined up. You can see the full Franklin Square Holiday Schedule here.
xo!
