When Chris and I got married, we hired this guy who called himself DJ Swerve to do the music. “Because I can read a crowd.” He said. “And if they’re not feeling it, I…swerve…to something else.” I know. I think my eyes rolled right outta my head and into my Venti Caramel Light Frap. (It was so very 2010.)
Surprisingly, he actually lived up to (his own) hype, and everyone was on their feet until the venue started bringing up the lights…but what I’m getting to is this:
I, too, know when to swerve.
So while those acid-washed shorts are something that I am still most definitely into, you guys are — on the fence, let’s say. And I get that. To each her own, right? But for all the hers (or theys, because now it’s so very 2019) who aren’t owning the acid-wash thing, I give you an outfit with undeniable appeal because it feels like straight-up pajamas.
Just Like PJs: My Cute & Comfy Summer Outfit
I could live in super-soft band tees until the end of time, and this one from Lucky is so good. In fact, there are SO many good band tees on the Lucky site right now that I’ve linked up more than a few faves below. Especially loving this Queen T and all the Elton John options. Rocketman, man.
And these shorts. Another Target find brought to you by my tiny enabler. (“You look cool, Mom!” Aaaaand SOLD.) They’re floaty and perfect for sticky summer days, with a waistband that accommodates indulgent BBQ situations. The fabric is, as this whole post suggests, crazy-soft and comfy, and I even wore them with a drapey black rayon tank and a pair of graphic platform sandals, and they felt downright chic. (Note on those sandals: mine are ancient, but these immediately caught my eye when looking for something similar. They’re graphic in that still-goes-with-everything way, pretty affordable at $79, and well-reviewed.)
Drawstring Shorts // So insanely comfortable, perfect for sticky weather, and available in five colors (some available in plus-size, too!), including a paprika-y Rust, which I’m thinking of nabbing. Wearing an XS.
Clogs // Gonna go ahead and admit that I bought these because Lana has a tiny pair that’s very similar, and I was having major footwear envy when we were getting dressed every morning. The rubber sole keeps these more comfy than you’d think. Sized up to a 9.
Graphic Cardigan // Ah, the return of the graphic cardi. It’s still going strong, guys. Wearing a S, and loving it as much as ever. Cozy, per the overall vibe here. Lots of colorways (some more ridiculous than others).
Denim Jacket // Arguably less comfy-cozy, but this is my most-worn jacket of the summer, and I can see it transitioning perfectly to fall. The oversized trucker style is slouchy and still a little sexy. Great layered over an open-knit sweater for truly chilly nights, and just perfectly proportioned and cool over dresses, too. Wearing an XS.
Rattan Bag // Just the right size for a small wallet, phone and a place to stash sunnies when the sun goes down. I’ve gotten more compliments on this bag than I can count (and under $30). Another solid Amazon find.

Speaking of our wedding, Chris and I are heading out to wine country for 36 hours to celebrate 9 years — the perfect little respite before my NSale inauguration later this week. (Oy, I hear it’s equal parts thrilling and exhausting, but I not-so-secretly can’t wait to hole up in a dressing room in the name of work.) We’ve got a reservation at Meadowood that I’m so excited about, and plenty more on the belly list for our two days away, so you can bet I’ll be packing this outfit for the drawstring waist, alone. 😉 Until then!
