Found: The Perfect Jacket For Fall

I found the perfect jacket for fall. It’s a great layering piece to transition from summer, with just enough warmth for cooler days. (Like those days when you leave the house freezing and come home sweating.) I’ve been loving all the browns and reds and oranges for fall, and this “afterglow red” color is one of my favorites. I love that I can wear it with my (typical) all-black or all-grey outfits for a fun pop of color.  

FOUND: Perfect Surplus Jacket In A Fresh Fall Color

I recently wore this surplus jacket when we took the kids to Bay Beach Amusement Park in Green Bay for a quick little getaway.  It was so fun watching Greenlea on the rides (check out her face in the pic below—I’m dying) we’ll definitely have to visit again soon. Maybe for their Boo Beach weekend in October when we the kids get to dress up in costume! (And us. But mostly about the kids.) #ilovehalloween

Outfit Details

jacket: Madewell Surplus Cotton Jacket (I tried both the small and xs — I went with the xs because it was a bit more fitted and I could still layer it over a sweater. Also, in olive green, and available in regular and plus sizes.)

jeans: Good American Good Waist (My favorite fit from Good American that comes in a bunch of colors and rinses . . . get the non-distressed version here.)

belt: Express Double O-Ring Belt (I read reviews before ordering the size small — it fits both my waist and around my hips! I’m usually a 28/size 6.)

boots: Dolce Vita Cotlyn Boots (My favorite boots of the season! I wear them almost daily.)

sweater: ASTR the Label Side Tie Crop Wrap Sweater (Wearing a small — I could get away with just a bralette underneath for a night out, but layered it over a cami for a family day.)

earrings: Nickel & Suede Lightweight Leather Earrings (My all-time favorite earrings that are actually comfortable to wear!)

cami: Hanro Seamless V-Neck Cotton Camisole (This is more expensive than I’d like to spend on a cami, but I’ve literally had this one for YEARS, and it’s held up through multiple wearings and washings. It’s the perfect layering piece – thin without being sheer and short enough to tuck in without the bulge. Wearing size small.)

  2. Love Bay Beach! We just did a trip to Green Bay over Labor Day weekend and took the kids there too! 🙂 I grew up by Green Bay and used to go there all the time as a kid. And I love that jacket!

  3. Bought the exact jacket in Canada three years ago for $29.99 in khaki green, except it’s lined with the orange silk. Great jacket. Third of the price.
