We’re traveling this Christmas, which I LOVE. Not even joking. It adds to the magic and excitement for me…and I say that having three little kids. Even still! I get so pumped up about it. Maybe it’s the flurry of preparation, the anticipation of arriving and the feeling of adventure. Whatever it is, I love it.
Now. What I wear while traveling? HA. Yeh, I do the whole yoga pants and oversized sweatshirt, because…I don’t give a crap. However, there’s something different about traveling during the holidays. Ya know?? There’s just something about the season that makes me want to get a little jazzed up, even for a long car ride. Especially since there is usually family and/or friends waiting expectantly for our arrival and I like to look at least halfway decent when we roll up.
The only thing is, I WILL NOT budge on the comfort factor. There’s just no way I am going to be in the car with three kids for 7+ hours with anything on that doesn’t allow for me to do Car Calisthenics; meaning, of course, wrenching my body around to toss stuff at the kids, feed them, water them and save whatever was dropped 50,000x and CANNOT be lived with ought. Ya know, all that acrobatic stuff that’s part of the job description of the side passenger.
[Enter Madewell’s Roadtripper jean]
Um, hi world’s most comfortable jean. They might as well be leggings, but…they’re jeans. Just gotta pair these babies with an equally comfortable sweater and sparkly sneaks and…well, let’s just say I guess I’ll be showing up for Christmas all ready to get down with the festivities. *fist bump*

outfit details
sweater c/o: Willow & Clay Stripe Sleeve Sweater (wearing Small) – get this sweater. Today. It is the cutest and soft, soft, soft. The stripes one the sleeves, mock turtleneck and zipper details make it something a bit different from the norm. Love it! If your size is sold out via Shop Social Threads, it’s fully stocked here.
jeans: Madewell Roadtripper Jeans (wearing 27 Tall) – these are the leggings of jeans. Why did I just found out about these?? (btw: thank you, Laura) They are incredibly comfortable and true to size. Also, they have tall and taller sizes. Amazing. These come in black, too! All sizes still stocked at the moment.
bag: Madewell Small Transport Crossbody (english saddle) – I had been thinking about this bag for months…and I finally pulled the trigger. I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t need a huge bag, with the baby being not so much a baby anymore, so…I upgraded to a nice grab n’ go type bag. Also, I got it customized with my initials. YESSSS. It looks so good!
shoes: Vans Chunky Glitter Old Skool – these are…I mean, hello! How does one say no to glittery sneakers? I ask you. I also tried out their hi-top version, which was equally fantastic. I’d honestly wear either, but went with the lo-top in the end…just because I don’t want to have to work too hard to get my shoes on and off in the car.
Are you traveling this Christmas? With kids? If so, I hold up my fist in solidarity. Enjoy, if at all possible. If not, just keep your eye on the prize – that glass of alcohol you’ll have when you FINALLY get where you’re going.

How have I never heard of these jeans?!?! I just read the reviews on Madewell and someone compared them to the sisterhood of traveling pants…I think I must have them!
I KNOW. I have no idea why I just found out about them…so many road trips I could have used them for! Cheers.
I wanted to say the sweater was my favorite…but then I looked at the jeans. And then I saw the sneakers. So I just want to say Bravo, Cam. Bravo. This whole outfit is amazing!
Love the whole outfit! Doing similar road trip for New Years- great outfit. thanks!
Wow. This outfit is perfect. I want every piece, but settled for ordering the sweater and sneakers for now. Question–the Nordstrom link sweater is a turtleneck, not a mock neck, and seems looser than the Social Threads one. Is it really the same sweater as yours?
Ya know, it may just be slightly different. huh. It’s hard to tell, though, because same brand, same stye…the neck does just seem to be slightly longer, but then in the pic of the back…the neck seems to be the same as mine. Either way, it’s probably safe bet. Cheers.
I received my sweater today and it is exactly like yours. I love it! Super soft! The Nordstrom pics are off; your pics show what it really looks like. Thanks again for finding this and posting the outfit!
Thank you! I was about to give up on skinny jeans because I want to be comfortable. Bought these and they are great!
