The Color I’m Totally Obsessed With This Holiday Season

Oh hey hot pants.  As someone who can be found in black, navy or gray 99% of the time, it makes perfect sense that I bought these hot pink pants.  #nonsense

I’m not even sure what it was.  I had featured these pants in my article about velvet-on-velvet last month and then they just….haunted me. Partly it was the photo – surely they couldn’t be that intense in real life??!!?? – and partly I needed a bit of fun in my life.  I absofreakinglutely love this job of mine, but Black Friday/Cyber Monday just about kills me every year.

So. The answer to work and holiday-related stress?  Hot pink pants.  (Somebody call HuffPo.  Shocking, really, that no one has reported on this before.)

If you follow me on IG (@shanachristine), you know that I wore my hot pants to see the Arden’s performance of Peter Pan.  (Philly locals, the kids loved it – like laughing out loud loved it – but it wasn’t my favorite.  So if you are struggling to fit it in, maybe wait for Snow White this Spring.)

But if you do find yourself over at the Arden, we love taking the kids to Amada after for tapas.  It’s one of those places that isn’t necessarily kid-friendly….but yet is totally kid-friendly (super amazing helpful staff, and there’s always one or two tapas we can make work for the kids).

Outfit Details

jacket: iro size 38 – I’m wearing the model from a few years ago, the newer one is slightly cropped.  If you really want the longer length (and belt), Madewell has a similar one that readers have raved about for years.  (But….I think I like Madewell’s newer washed leather jacket even better.)

sweater: joe fresh men’s cashmere size m – I stole Mike’s sweater for this.  Never want to be too fancy, ya know?

pants: Free People size 25 – I have not hemmed these, FYI – oh hey!! Currently 30% off at Macy’s!

boots: Free People cecile – my longtime favs!!! Going on….three yeas now?

bag: Free People – this snowball fluff bag is ridiculous and virtually useless.  It can only carry a few credit cards and a lipstick…but I LOVE it anyway.

earrings: Kendra Scott Emmylou

On Raines: similar jeans | shirt | tie | similar leather jacket | sneaks

On Paxsimilar jeans | similar shirt | similar bowtie | similar jacket | sneaks

Pink For Holidays?

So….are you guys feeling pink as much as I am this holiday season?  I mean….blush pink is practically a classic (and looks especially good paired with oxblood), but I’m really digging the deeper pinks right now.  They feel a little bit unexpected and fresh, yet the tone is saturated enough to stay holiday-appropriate.  Here are a few other deep pink pieces that are now calling my name….

Thoughts on the pink?

  1. I thought, omg I have to have these because I’m about to dye the roots of hair hot pink/intense purple then have it ombré into my usual pastel pink, but then I saw that they are cropped flares and eek, no, can’t do it. They don’t look very cropped on you because you’re a shorty, but at 5’9” I just can’t do cropped flares. If you see these in a different silhouette let me know. Btw, your butt looks fabulous!

    • Haha, thanks Babe. But I’ll bet you look amazing in cropped flares – they’re basically a style copying how jeans fit on you tall girls anyway. 🙂
