We made it! After a very busy, fun holiday season the team is taking some much-needed family time this weekend. Thank you, readers, for another wonderful year here at The Mom Edit. We wouldn’t get to do this incredible job without you. And I’d be remiss not to recognize our team for another challenging year of hard work and endless big ideas. (You all know this is the part where I start crying, haha). Together, we brought so many of those big ideas to fruition. It’s a pretty special thing.
As for next year? Well, I can’t spill all the beans, but I can promise you we’ll have plenty of inspiring outfits to share, thoughtful reviews of the stuff you actually care about, and as always, some real-life sprinkled in. And oh, P.S. The Mom Edit is turning 15 (OMG) so I think some major celebrations are in order. We’ve gotta get the team brainstorming on that one.
On a real-life, personal note…my husband Mike and I are headed to Ireland tomorrow! Generally, we’re keeping it low-key and cozy. Lots of wandering around and (hopefully) stumbling upon a few good pubs and beautiful sites. But after lots of research, we have a pretty promising itinerary (I’m using that term loosely here) for both Galway and Dublin. I’m most excited to see The Cliffs of Moher, snag a wool sweater on Grafton Street, and tour the Guinness Storehouse. Truthfully, I’m more of a wine girl…but when in Rome.
Any more last-minute recommendations for me?
Wherever your plans may take you this year, The Mom Edit wishes you the happiest holiday season. We can’t wait for all that’s to come in 2023.
The (Possibly) Impractical Thing I’m Packing. This ALC faux-fur vest feels very “Ireland” to me, so I had to go for it. For reference, I’m 5’8″ and went with my usual size small. During the day, I’ll wear it over an ivory turtleneck with jeans, and at night I’ll pop it over a cozy cable-knit sweater dress for dinner. It’s admittedly not super packable, but we’re checking bags, so I imagine I’ll be able to squeeze it in. This vest from Tuckernuck looks like a great, lower-priced alternative.
These Boots Have Work To Do. We’re anticipating lots of rainy weather on our trip and of course, lots of walking — so I’m thinking these Sam Edelman Laguna Chelsea boots will be perfect. I’ve had them for years and they still look like new. And although they’re not a true rain boot, I have most definitely stepped into deep Philly puddles with them and my socks stayed warm and dry. I’ll call that a win.
Influenced. I never knew fleece-lined leggings existed before Shana opened my eyes to a beautiful new world of warmth. How I made it twenty-something years without these things, I’m not sure. But you better believe I packed these exact fleece leggings for my trip. Now I’m eyeing up those adorable blue leggings from Shana’s recent post.
Santa, Baby. Because we have this big trip planned, Mike and I tried to be practical about our Christmas gifts this year. But we did splurge on Away’s Bigger Carry-On in Sand. And by we, I mean he. So thanks, Santa. Can’t wait to use it! If you’re also in the market for new luggage, S did an awesome in-depth comparison of Away vs. Paravel luggage over on our YouTube channel.
Thanks, It’s Chanel. No, Santa didn’t bring me a Chanel bag this year (nor will he ever, probably) but when Laura called Chanel’s #907 “the most gorgeous nail polish shade she’s ever seen” I had to get it as a little gift for myself. #504 is the shade I’ll probably snag next, but honestly?…there are so many good colors to choose from.
Let’s Party. NYE is right around the corner and we’ve got tons of outfit ideas for you. Whether you’re headed somewhere swanky and fabulous or you’re keeping it festive and chill at home, our newest downloadable style guide is full of dreamy winter outfits that are ‘extra’ in the very best way. P.S. 10% of proceeds from the sale of this guide will be donated to No More Secrets, a Philadelphia-based nonprofit combating period poverty in marginalized communities.
New Year, New Scrub Daddy. Maybe it’s just me, but once the decorations come down, I’m in serious cleaning and organization mode. And one of my cleaning BFFs is The Scrub Daddy. I also swear by The Magic Eraser for everything from random marks on the wall to removing scuffs on our shoes.
Post-Holiday Sales Are Upon Us. I’d say the best ones to watch out for (historically) are Nordstrom, Saks, Athleta & Anthropologie. But beyond that, the team will be covering all our favorites on the blog & social early next week. Be sure to sign up for our newsletter to never miss a sale post and bookmark our Post-Holiday Sales Page and check back for the latest sales scoop.
Happy Holidays!!
