Happy New Year, everyone! The craziness of the holidays is (almost) behind us, and I always feel a little sad when they’re gone. The winters can get looooong where I live, and in January I typically find myself in a rut of outfit monotony: winter boots, black leggings and black sweaters… [REPEAT].  If I’m feeling really crazy, I’ll wear grey. January is generally not a time when I experiment with clothes (HELLO, coldest month of the year!) but it is a fun time to try new makeup looks.

One of my recent favorites has been playing with different burgundy looks. A simple burgundy lip is always a classic choice, but burgundy shadows, liners and even mascara are popping up everywhere. Burgundy seems to be one of those shades that works well on everyone. Whether you want to add just a bit of color or try the full-on monochromatic look I’m wearing here, we’ve put together our favorite burgundy makeup picks for you below.   An all-black outfit or a cozy grey sweater is sooo comforting in winter. BUT we're trying a burgundy makeup refresh for the perfect pop of color. Try it! An all-black outfit or a cozy grey sweater is sooo comforting in winter. My Favorite Burgundy Makeup Products

P.S. If you have a favorite burgundy lipstick let us know in the comments . . . we’re always looking for new palettes and products!

  1. I too love burgundy/plum colors with my dark hair. Merle Norman has double sided lip pencils that I really like. Matte finish and stays on for a long time. I have many different colors and can mix/match. But the double sided pencil even allows you to achieve different looks with the 2 colors. They do have rich burgundy and bistro berry which I wear alot for the look you are describing.

  2. Great colors! I’d love more how-to videos like you’ve done on application. I’m not really knowledgable on how to apply make-up well, especially eye make-up so that would be helpful. Thanks!

  3. I splurged on Dior lipstick in the “daisy plum” color a few years ago and it’s still my go-to for a special occasion. Burgundy with subtle glitter, just gorgeous.

  4. Bobbi Brown Crushed Lipcolor in Telluride is a fave of mine. It’s a bit more subtle, like a balm. For a darker night out shade I’m mildly obsessed with Victoria’s Secret line of velvet mattes, and Drama fits the bill! I also love the Anastasia Modern Renaissance palette, there’s several burgundy red colors in there. As always, you look gorgeous!

  5. My favorite glossy long wear splurge option: Chanel Le Rouge Duo Ultra Tenue in Sweet Berry. Apply base color, wait, apply top gloss and viola. Shiny perfect lips that don’t feather or fade for hours. The new formula isn’t quite as good as the OG Rogue Double Intensite but it’s still my favorite. I love the Bobbi Brown you have on here though, my itchy trigger finger almost instantly bought it before I remembered the Chanel in my purse! Ha.
