So now that we’ve spent countless hours looking at every.single.thing in the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale…we’re feeling pretty darn good about it. The team’s current consensus is that this year’s sale is killing it on the jeans front.
Nordstrom Anniversary Sale 2020 Preview: Cute Fall Outfits
And since social distancing measures mean that we’re probably going to socialize as much as we can outside…I was also thrilled with the number of seriously cool coats and jackets.
We have a ton of coverage coming out over the next few weeks (including plenty of at-home try-ons), but we thought we’d offer up a few cute outfit ideas for fall.
Fall Outfit Idea 1: Just Mommin’ Around
For early fall, I love the idea of cute kicks and a pretty top — especially when the top is as easy as a t-shirt, but the vibe is special. Throw a sweatshirt on for chilly mornings, and grab a backpack. (Bonus if the backpack doubles as a lux laptop bag.)
Fall Outfit Idea 2: Dinner Date
This is basically my go-to outfit for, uh, almost everything? Date night? Yes. School function? Yes. Casual Friday? Yes. Happy hour? Yes. Girls’ night? Yes. Granted….I don’t quite know when our lives will get back to normal, but when they do: this outfit. For everything.
Fall Outfit Idea 3: Three Cheers For Slouchy Sweaters
Slouchy sweaters, half-tucked into faded denim is one of the easiest outfits around. Cute little statement booties make it easy to get out the door, and I’ve found that a light-colored leather bag is more versatile than black: they really do work year-round.
Fall Outfit Idea 4: That’s A Pretty Dope Jacket
Anyone else dying for a faux-shearling jacket??? I swear it will help with my social distancing.;) Also, that gorgeous white dress is comfy, stretchy, and ribbed, so would also work for verrrry glamorous lounging around the house.
Fall Outfit Idea 5: Mixed Leopard Prints
Graphic tees and printed pants forever. Add boots and a moto jacket — this outfit formula always looks good.
Fall Outfit Idea 6: Put A Plaid On It
I think I need that tee for virtual schooling. It’s my mantra for fall. And then if I need to run to the store…throw on the blazer.
I added the belt because I think it could add a little somethin’ when not wearing the blazer….But that might be one bridge too far from sweatpants this fall.
Fall Outfit Idea 7: Only A Little Romantic
File this under “Sexy Date Night Outfit For the Rest of My Life”. Whether that’s for drinks at the Logan or at “The Kitchen”.
Fall Outfit Idea 8: Everything Under $100
If you haven’t yet tried Free People’s high-rise skinnies…I’ve been really impressed in the past. But I found I needed to size up.
Fall Outfit Idea 9: Leggings, But Extra
OK, so: the Vince leggings below are real leather. If you’d rather go faux, my sister and I have been wearing Spanx’s faux-leather leggings for years (and they are part of the sale). I’m also intrigued by these cropped faux-leather pants, too (also available in plus sizes).
Fall Outfit Idea 10: For Weekend Exploring
This is basically the exact outfit I wear when wandering around the city. I swear by sneaker boots…and these are waterproof.
Fall Outfit Idea 11: Cozy Cabin Vibes
Pendleton makes seriously amazing coats, and this one is the perfect combo of outdoorsy and chic.
Fall Outfit Idea 12: Winter Walks In Midnight Tones
I love a good puffer. And this one — with the well-placed pops of color — is surprisingly chic (and also available with pops of red). I’m also impressed with the combat boots — they’re not overly ‘done’ but more chic than most.
As I mentioned before, we’d love to know what you guys would like us to style up! We already have one request for this bag (one I’ve been drooling over myself). What else?
