I have a little obsession lately and it’s plaid blouses. There’s something classic about plaid at the holidays that the partial prep in me adores. I’m loving all the blouses out right now that have a little ruffle or a crisp collar that takes them far above your traditional plaid flannel shirts and takes them right into holiday parties or winter date nights.
These little details in the blouses are lovely, but I wanted to bump it up another notch and dress the print up even more. Add a little shine and velvet and some faux fur (and of course my favorite leopard print boots) and you’re good to go. This would be a super easy work-to-holiday-party outfit formula. Just add the faux fur, earrings and sparkly clutch to your day outfit and voila. I’m a sucker for the black watch plaid I have on here, but your favorite plaid would work, too!
Top – (similar) JCrew Club Collar Perfect Shirt – As I said, I’m partial to black watch plaid with the deep green and navy, but (almost) any plaid would be great for a holiday look.
Jacket (similar) – Tavik Oliver Faux Fur Jacket– Faux fur just adds that fancy touch that takes it up a notch. My jacket is from a few years ago but it adds just the right amount of ‘fun’ to an outfit. It’s great with a graphic tee and coated denim/faux leather pants, too. This one from BB Dakota is also super cute
Pants – (similar) – LOFT Modern Skinny Velvet Pants – You can’t go wrong with velvet this time of year. A pair of black velvet skinny pants just makes any top you have holiday special.
Boots – Dolce Vita Macie – You probably know by now these are my absolute favorite purchase recently. They feel dressy but have a low heel. They feel modern. They make any outfit cooler. TTS.
Earrings – Express Chandelier Earrings – These have been my new go-to fancy earrings. I love that they go with so much and add that bling I need.
Clutch – Express Metallic Turnlock Clutch – A sparkly bag is great at making any ensemble shine for the holidays or special occasions.
Lipstick – Mac Russian Red – Definitely my favorite red lipstick. Not too blue or orange but a fun bright for the holidays.

What’s your favorite plaid? I think the only one that might be tough to dress up here is buffalo check, but if you manage it please let me know! I’m always up for a good pattern challenge. Happy holiday parties, y’all!

So so fabulous. Love this look! And have to agree that MAC Russian Red is THE classic red lipstick. I thin kit works on everyone. I’ve worn a buffalo check (black and white, not red. Does that still count as buffalo check?) to a Christmas party with a black sequin pencil skirt, teal suede peep toes and a teal faux fur scarf. It was a really fun party look!
Love this idea!!
Yes, so fun! Love it! Pencil skirt ftw.
