One Travel Outfit I’m Loving Right Now

Father’s Day wasn’t exactly ideal this year.  We were on our way to visit family in North Carolina, and decided to split the 20+ hour drive into three days.  We pretty much had no idea how Greenlea would react to being in a car for longer than two hours at a time, so we packed up a new Leapfrog, powered up an iPad and were on our way.  (Ok, the car was actually packed to the brim . . . I’m somewhat surprised the three of us fit).

We stayed in Chicago the first night (and were treated like royalty, thanks to friends who live there) and then were on to Charleston, West Virginia.  I found a hotel that had a pool for G, a bar for Zack & I, and a nice firepit and the view of the river in the back.  That’s where we spent Father’s Day . . . after Zack drove 8 hours through mostly rain, with a (sometimes) screaming toddler in the backseat.  Again, not ideal . . . but we made it to Carolina Beach the next day and will be here for a couple of weeks.   We will enjoy every last bit of sunshine and ocean until we have to leave.

I’m not what you would call a “good packer.”  I usually grossly overpack every time we go anywhere, for any amount of time, so this time we made sure to pack an overnight bag . . . I definitely didn’t want to be hauling in my giant suitcase every night (and by “I,” I mean “Zack”).  This Sole Society bag was the perfect size for the necessities I needed without being too giant and overwhelming.  (I love the bottom compartment for diapers and G’s stuff.)  These sandals are the perfect shoes to pack . . .  they go with anything from shorts to jeans to dresses.  The blue is such a fun color and they’re super comfortable but with a little bit of a wedge for some height.

Shoes: Also in a light beige and dark beige, they run true to size . . . I’m normally a 7.5 in sandals and 8 in boots and the 7.5 were perfect.  Comfy too!

Bag: Also in cognac and black, this is my new go-to bag for overnights and weekends.

Earrings: I love a good statement earring and these are fun for summer.

Bracelets: Most bangle bracelets fall off my wrists but these are the right size and can be worn all together or in smaller batches.

Sweater: Also in a mustard yellow, I love how lightweight this sweater is.

Bodysuit: Yummie by Heather Thomson . . . I’ve been wearing this and the black one on repeat.  The first bodysuit I’ve ever worn that actually fits my body and is actually comfortable. (Wearing M/L)

Shorts: Wearing a size 10 and am normally a size 6/28 . . . the bigger size is much comfier, IMO. I’m dying to try these Boy Midi shorts

Thank you to Sole Society for sponsoring this post and to our readers for their continued support.  It is so very much appreciated!

  1. I just bought both pairs of these shorts and will probably not take them off the rest of the summer!! They are super soft! And amazingly comfortable!!

  2. Oh, man! Charleston is my town! That hotel is great, and a Starbucks next door doesn’t hurt. Next time through, make time to eat at either Black Sheep Burrito or Pies + Pints. Both delicious (and good for kids!) and are great representatives of the direction that Charleston is moving. Safe travels!
