Abby and I are back with another edition of everyday paper dolls, courtesy of Nordstrom looks. (You might recall Abby & I teamed up last month to discuss seven different ways of styling sweatpants. We are taking #StayAtHome style verrrrry seriously ’round here.)
This time, after a fierce debate (leggings? cardigans? Birkenstocks?) we decided to focus on five pieces we think are perfect for lounging around inside…but ones that you’ll still be excited to wear once we can all venture out again.
That said, if you’d like to see a future edition of paper dolls involving five ways to style leggings/cardigan/Birks/whatever, please let us know!!
5 Must-Have Nordstrom Pieces x 2: Comfy Loungewear Outfits For Now; Cute Summer Outfits For Later
Now: Skinny Sweatpants In A Really Pretty Color
Don’t get me wrong: you’ll have to pry my black sweatpants from my cold, dead hands. But there’s something about this whole quarantine thing that’s got me craving color. And these pretty, light blue sweatpants are calling my name. I’d keep the look soft with updated frames (blue-light blocking — something I swear by right now), and a cute tie-dye hat. Finish the look off with one of a graphic tee, knotted at the waist.
Later: Skinny Sweatpants In A Really Pretty Color
For our Saturday morning farmer’s market run (which usually ends at a cafe somewhere)…I’ll sport a pretty tee, Birks, and one of the most coolest summer bags I’ve seen yet.
Now: Cropped Black Sweatpants
You can tell what life is like right now when Abby and I both gasped at these cute sweatpants. They are, admittedly, just black sweats. But they have a good cut and a cute cropped shape, and YES…we likey. I’d love to pair them with that fancy wrap t-shirt (still just a tee, folks), the coolest blue-light blocking glasses I’ve found, and my latest Birkenstock obsession. Add in a pretty, comfy bra because fashun.
Later: Cropped Black Sweatpants
This is basically a re-creation of one of my go-to outfits. I swear by silk tanks in the summer (I hand or machine wash, hang to dry), because silk is, hands-down, the coolest & most comfortable fabric when it’s hot. Add in my tortoise shell sunnies + that exact bag + my beloved Superstars, and you have one of my most-worn accessory combos.
Now: White Birkenstocks
Since I’m still debating those white platform Birkenstocks, I had Abby paper-doll them right up. They’re so at home with any sort of light sweatpants, and I love how Abby recommended a nail color that is both easy to maintain AND leans in a decidedly chic direction.
But who am I kidding? I’m not gonna paint my nails. 😉
Oversized hair barrettes, however, are a solid YES. (They’ll cover some grays.)
Later: White Birkenstocks
We went with elevated pieces here, but the point is that white Birkenstocks (especially platform white Birkenstocks) will look seriously cool with just a white tank, cut-offs and sunglasses. Add in a cool layering top, or swap the tank out for a sleek bodysuit if you’re fancy.
Now: T-Shirt Midi Dress
Have you guys seen Julieta on IG, lounging around in comfy midi dress? Her quarantine style is on point. We’re pulling a page from her book and going with a t-shirt dress made wearable by both the length (midi not mini) and the slight ruching alongside (forgiving on a soft stomach). Warm it up with a hoodie, and add Vans for walking the dog. Or the kids. Ha, ha…ha.
Also, barrettes. Can we somehow stack a few of them to make a messy bun look more chic? Hmmmm.
Later: T-Shirt Midi Dress
I love how black — even in a casual fabric like this — can so effortlessly be dressed up. Yet because it’s casual, it bridges perfectly between woven totes and lipstick, pretty jewelry and rope slides. Just a comfy (yet still sexy) little outfit. Love it.
Now: Chambray Shirt
Knot it at the waist or wear it like a cardigan…a chambray shirt is the denim jacket of #StayAtHome.
Later: Chambray Shirt
Ugh, I want to wear this RIGHT NOW SO BAD. I’ve been hit with a bit of nostalgia, and am now craving denim on denim with clogs. Or flat tan sandals. Abby softened my stance by adding in a cami to break things up (well played, Abby, well played) but I’ll be tucking my chambray right into a pair of blues.
Ya know. Someday.
