Don’t you hate it when you check the forecast and it’s cloudy with a 67 percent chance of a boring outfit? Same, Boo, same. This year, I refuse to look in my closet and feel like it’s as drab as the weather. I’m not sure if it’s real or perceived, but I swear color is harder to come by in cooler temps. I’m fighting the seasonal wardrobe slump tooth and nail this year, so I set out to find an easy way to keep the color in my closet. I’m happy to report it’s turned out to be easier than I figured it would be, and it doesn’t just look good. It has all hallmarks of outfits I absolutely love: It’s comfortable, versatile and figure-flattering. Yep, I think I’ve found a winner, but you’ll have to see for yourself.
Rock Out in a Statement Skirt
I absolutely adore the contrasting stripes in this midi skirt. They add interest and color in muted tones, so it doesn’t feel too intense, especially if you tend to go for neutrals. Speaking of neutrals, I think the colors in the skirt would lend well to being paired with brown tones, in addition to the black as I’ve styled it. I’ve been so excited to wear this moto jacket since I bought it during the anniversary sale, so it was no question that I’d reach for it for this look. I have two other black moto jackets, and I love them all for a different reason. This one is very tailored — it’s spot-on with the quilted sleeves. I swear, vegan leather options are getting better by the year. I love it! I can tell this jacket will last me a while. Good thing because, when are moto jackets ever not in style? Speaking of style that just won’t quit, the turtleneck sweater has been a staple in my closet forever! I mean, not everything can be prints and patterns, right? My sweater is super old, but I found a similar option that I hope you’ll love as much as I love mine.
Skirt (TopShop): A contrasting stripe, hanky hem midi skirt sounds like a lot, but I promise this skirt just right. It’s TTS.
Turtleneck (Similar): I’ve had this slim-fit turtleneck sweater for ages, but I’ve found a similar one for ya. It’s the perfect cold-weather staple.
Moto jacket (Top Shop): Something about the tailored, quilted and zippered sleeves made me keep this Moto jacket, even though I have a few others. At less than $90, it’s a steal.
Backpack (similar): This is another oldie but goodie. I generally prefer minimalist bags, but the chain detail was just enough.
Boots (Franco Sarto): These boots are definitely made for walking! They have a low block heel and the leather is soft. I also love that the toe isn’t so pointy that it squishes my piggies.
Watch (Movado): Classic with a two-tone metal twist. This watch was a Christmas gift from my husband years ago and I still adore it.
