Classic + Colorful: Striped Sweaters for Spring

It is April, right? I’m just checking because it snowed here today, and not the kind that melts as soon as it hits the ground either. Easter has come and gone and while the weather is slowly warming up, it’s still hovering around freezing temps here in Michigan. Call me dramatic, but I always start feeling sorry for myself around this time of the year,  joking that I’ve forgotten what it feels like to be warm, but really I DON’T REMEMBER.  But just because it feels like Winter, doesn’t mean I have to dress like it is.

Spring has sprung in our hearts and in our wardrobes and nothing says Spring like STRIPES.  Striped sweaters are one of my favorite Spring friendly ways to stay warm plus Stripes are one of those rare trends that work all year round and never go out of style, so you can never have too many striped pullovers hanging in your closet.  And thanks to a surge in popularity on the runways this Spring stripes are everywhere, and in every color under the rainbow.

Whether it’s classic, nautical themed stripes or bright, colorful, 70’s vibing, stripes, your new favorite striped sweater is in my massive round-up, I guarantee it.

How I Wear Them: Classic Stripes & Camo

Classic stripes pair well with other patterns, especially camouflage. The two contrasting prints balance each other out perfectly. Another idea is pairing a Camo jacket with a striped pullover.

Outfit Details

Sweater – J.Crew’s Striped Pullover Sweater, $85.00. Easily the most worn sweater in my wardrobe. Simple lines, classic style; a versatile pullover that you’ll come back to again and again all year long. A few noteworthy similar styles: Classic Stripes in Navy by Joie, $79.99,  Vince’s Roll Edge Mock Neck Sweater, from $131.67, and an Oversized and Affordable Option by Cable Stitch, $49.99.

Cargo Pants – J.Crew’s 9″ Camo Print Cargo Toothpick Pants, $98.00. Seriously look no further for the perfect camo pants. These best selling fan favorite’s are soft, stretchy and super flattering. Order a size down with these, they stretch a bit with wear. I’m usually a solid size 28 in J.Crew’s Toothpicks but went with the 27 and they worked perfectly.

Boots – Sam Edelman’s Petty Suede Ankle Boots, from $58.88. My favorite booties to wear with camo and stripes just for reference even though you can’t see my feet in any of my pics. The ‘putty’ color goes well with camo print. They’re a pretty light shade of beige which makes them wearable through Spring. These low heeled ankle booties also look super cute with shorts and skirts.
