Do you own any of those plush blankets that are irresistibly soft (you know, like this kind, which my family is literally always reaching for when cuddled on the couch)? Those comfy, amazing blankets that make holiday movie nights that much more enticing?
Well, I found a cardigan that’s basically the wearable version of that blanket. And it’s heavenly.
Holiday-Lounge-Ready: An Oversized Cardigan That’s Basically A Wearable Blanket
I’m living in a much warmer climate than I had been for the past nine years, and I’ve been trying really hard to be practical with my purchases. As much as I gravitate toward all things soft, warm and fleece, I don’t really need as much of that anymore. So if something plush is going to stay in my closet, it’s because I truly can’t stop wearing it.
This slightly boxy, extra-cozy sweater has all the right elements to earn a permanent spot in my closet.
The Oversized Cozy Cardigan from aerie is exactly what it’s name entails:
Oversized: I own a size medium, and the sweater is plenty big and roomy. The other morning I had a thin crewneck sweatshirt and another thick wool cardigan both layered underneath it (I was cold and also fighting a cold). Everything fit quite comfortably, if I do say so myself.
Cozy: Hands-down the coziest, softest sweater in my closet (it’s not even a competition).
Cardigan: Well, this one is obvious, but it also has a zipper for the ability to close it up like a sweatshirt, which really adds to the cozy factor.
Fun, Flirty, Easy: Add A Delicate Cami For Contrast
With the Cozy Cardigan being oversized and thick in nature, I love the idea of balancing it out with a silky satin cami (an idea I copied straight from aerie’s online styling).
Not only are the textures and weights balanced when pairing a plush sweater with a delicate tank top, but I love the way a slightly shorter, cropped camisole looks in contrast to the sweater.
And for a festive pop of fun? Add a lace bralette and allow it to peek out (a pop of red or green makes it feel extra-fun for holiday lounging). I don’t personally love to go braless, unless with a fitted bodysuit, and I’ve found the easiest way to still wear bras with delicate garments is to allow the bra to be a part of the outfit instead of trying to hide the bra. It’s fun, it’s flirty, and frankly — it’s just easy.
Fit Notes: Wearing a size medium in the cardigan (it’s oversized!), a medium in the tank top (TTS), a size large in the bralette (TTS), and a size medium in the leggings (TTS).
