Ballet flats (this pair from Camper is my personal fave) can be divisive — uhm, what’s not divisive in fashion? — but regardless of one’s personal feelings on the matter, the shoes have been trending again. And they’re gaining so much momentum that this time around, they could be bigger than ever.
Ballet flats are becoming such an “it” item that there’s even the term “balletcore” to describe the style aesthetic that goes along with the shoes. While this term incorporates what you might expect — flats, leg warmers, tulle and wrap sweaters — it’s also been described as more of a broad sense of femininity and comfort combined.
Now those are two words I can get behind.
Comfort + Femininity: The Balletcore Aesthetic Is More Than Just Flats
We’re no strangers to ballet flats here at TME — Shana has long loved them for their “French girl vibes,” and I recently fell hard in love with a bubblegum-pink pair from Camper.
With my newfound love in those Camper flats, I’ve been growing more curious about the balletcore aesthetic, how the fashion industry is styling these shoes, and ways to continue wearing them come spring and summer. Watch my latest YouTube video for the full look into what I’m loving about the balletcore trend.
