It’s no secret that we love our fleeces here in the Pacific Northwest — it’s pretty much the uniform. But when I find a fleece style that hits the mark for both our chilly weather AND my picky style demands? SOLD.

The Fleece Jackets & Winter Boots We Just Can’t Quit
Backcountry (one of my longtime favs) has a ton of The North Face fleeces in different fits and colors right now…not to mention a huge selection of our favorite winter boots from Sorel. And on a feel-good, non-fashion-related, note: Backcountry recently matched a portion of @pattiegonia’s fundraiser (a queer environmentalist) to support queer & BIPOC outdoor organizations. SO great.
So, I thought Sienna (my 8-year-old) and I would show off both of our go-to outfits (the kid fleeces are too cute to resist) against our beautiful forested backdrop here in Portland — our favorite place to explore on the weekends.
Fleece Jackets By The North Face Are A No-Brainer
I’ve owned The North Face Cragmont fleece jacket in ivory for a couple of seasons now and it is one of my most-worn jackets. So when I saw that Backcountry was stocking a pullover style, too? No brainer. The Cragmont line of fleeces all have stand-up collars I adore, and they’re just really chic and stylish.
And the fleece material? Structured but oh-so-soft. I’m not sure how they accomplish both in one fabric, but it’s very well-made. (No surprise, coming from The North Face.)
And since I’m such a fan of The North Face fleeces for myself, I snapped up this cozy Oso longer jacket for Sienna. It is incredibly soft and she hasn’t taken it off since. I like the longer length on this one for added warmth on the booty when she wears leggings this time of year. The pretty mint green is also fun for the holiday season, yeah? But totes wearable all the time.
We also brought our Rumpl blanket with us. Not only is it gorgeous but so easy to use when you’re out on the go…perfect for picnics, camping, porch hangs, soccer momming-it…and even indoors. Grass and sand just brush right off, and if they get wet they dry fast. So good. (These would make great last-minute gifts, btw!)
Sorel Boots: Warm, Waterproof, Comfy & Stylish
It’s also no secret that the whole Mom Edit team loves Sorel boots. Warm, waterproof, comfy AND stylish? That’s often hard to find in a winter boot but Sorel does it year after year.
I’ve had these Explorer II Joan felt boots also for a couple of seasons now, and they are warm, cushiony to walk in, and seriously cute. I love pairing them with my lighter-wash jeans, but they also work with leggings and joggers. This year’s version is even cooler with a contrasting stripe above the sole. Love.
And I can’t go without mentioning these seriously soft joggers, from Beyond Yoga. SO comfy but they hold their shape all day. AKA the perfect piece to throw on with my beloved fleece and boots!
Sienna’s Sorels are seriously warm and great for snow days, too. They fit her TTS.
