My Tried and True Winter Coat and Boots

Although nothing like Winter in the U.P. where Scotti lives, usually by January in West Michigan you can expect freezing temperatures and a solid layer of snow that won’t melt until Spring. But this past week it was so unseasonably warm almost all of the snow melted.

Not that I’m complaining, but it gets hot fast when you have all of your warmest gear on and it’s 60 degrees outside.

With the exception of our random weekend of warm weather…this marks my third Michigan winter and I think I’m finally figuring out how to dress for serious cold and snow. As long as you have a very warm coat and snow-proof boots, it’s really not so bad. I swear.  Read on for my go-to winter weather picks.

This winter, I never leave the house without my Kara Parka by Sanctuary and my Out n’ About Sorels. And if you’re in the market for a new winter coat or winter boots, now is a great time to buy because basically all my favorites are on sale and up to 55% off. See how I wear mine and then browse my favs.

Warm Winter Parka and Duck Boots

Wearing

parka – Sanctuary’s Kara Winter Faux Fur Parka, $259.95. This coat is SERIOUSLY warm thanks to it’s faux fur lining. I also love that the faux fur trim on the hood is detachable.

sweater – H&M Oversized Mohair-blend Sweater, $39.95. I went to HM the other day and most of the store was on sale, they’re clearing out their old inventory to make room for new stuff so it’s definitely worth a browse.

jeans – Levi’s 521 High Rise Skinny Jeans, $44.50. For the price and the quality, you can’t beat Levi’s.

boots – Sorel Out N About Boots I love my Out N Abouts, although they’ve gotten mixed reviews from buyers at Nordstroms. The issue is they run REALLY small, so make sure to order a whole size up.

bag – Matisse’s Neuvo Leather Messenger Backpack, $279.95. It’s a leather backpack to last a lifetime, I’m still working on softening up the leather.
