If you’re a mom, chances are that “the girls” have been through a lot lately. Even if you didn’t breastfeed, you still had to deal with watching them rise to horrific proportions when pregnant, leaking milk, soreness, and slapping your husband’s hand away when they became engorged. If you did (or currently are) breastfeeding, add bad latching, letdown, teething and what my girlfriends refer to as the “tube sock effect” to the list. Ugh. The girls could use some TLC. October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and a perfect time of year to focus on the girls. So get in the shower, give yourself a breast exam, and treat yourself to some goodies whose proceeds benefit breast cancer research. Oh yeah — and once you’re nice and relaxed, schedule that mammogram.
You gotta love Philosophy. Whether you want to do your breast exam in the shower or the bubble bath, they’ve got you covered. And with 100% of proceeds from the sale of the Shower for the Cure shower gel or She Colors My Day bubble bath going to breast cancer research and other educational programs, you can relax just a little bit more. Both the shower gel and bubble bath are $20 at philosophy.com.
For a little bit of mom glamour for a cause, give yourself a quick pedicure with Jessica Empowered Collection. Jessica is donating 65% of all proceeds from this limited edition collection to American Institute for Cancer Research. The Empowered collection contains six neutral colors that can be slapped on quickly and are DBP, toluene and formaldehyde free. I like Bravery (pictured above), $6.50.
Throw on an easy eyeshadow from Too Faced. Too Faced teamed with Sephora to offer Betsy Baby in honor of a Sephora staffer who was battling breast cancer. Too Faced and Sephora will donate $9 per sale of this item to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. (NOTE: This color was originally discontinued, but was Betsy’s favorite, so they brought it back). Gold shimmer is all the rage this fall, and this is an easy way to wear it.
Lounge around the house in shopbop.com’s Breast Cancer Awareness T. Shopbop has teamed with six different celebrities to design tees to benefit the Breast Cancer Network of Strength. I like the one designed by Sophia Bush. Lounging wouldn’t be complete without cozy slippers. This month, shoes.com is donating 10% of sales on any pink shoe to Komen for the Cure. My fav is the Ugg Fluff Scuff II, $80, in, what else? Pink. Now go get that mammogram.
