I’ve been really excited to get this post out there…for two reasons. One, well…THE TRACKSUIT. It’s amazing. I think it may just be the answer to the age-old Mom question What Can I Wear That’s Basically Loungewear But Cool (and not loungewear)? The second and more important reason why I have been so elated about this set is that it is doing good for others!
For every tracksuit bought, BURU donates 10% of each VLM Tracksuit sale to their non-profit partner, Bring Change to Mind—an amazing organization on a mission to end the stigma of mental illness. If you all have been reading my posts, following me on social and listening to my podcast, you may know by now that I have been struggling with physical and mental health issues. It has been an incredibly difficult time for me, but with a lot of work and support from others I have been on the path to recovery and wellness for a while now.

So, I can 100% understand the label that those with mental illness can be given, without choosing it…and most definitely not wanting it. It’s almost like a “Kick Me” sign slapped on your back. I feel very strongly about the importance of educating others on this topic and helping people to understand their ideas and assumptions about mental illness. It should be looked at and treated the same way as a serious physical illness, in my opinion! Our society has made great progress in this area, definitely, but…there’s still a lot of room for improvement. I personally have experienced the “hush hush” mentality, having lived with the weight of depression and anxiety for years. It does no good for those suffering mentally. If anything, it negatively effects them.
BURU, I am so into this whole thing — the tracksuit and the mission to end the stigma of mental illness. Thank you.
Now, ya’ll. I did a little crowd-sourcing over on Instagram last week, asking you all to vote on which shoe you’d like to see styled-up with BURU’s Viva La Mére Tracksuit. You showed up for me and were all in on…two of the footwear options. So, OKAY. I was totally down to play around a bit with both…
The Viva La Mere Tracksuit + Western-Inspired Booties
Tracksuit: Viva La Mere Tracksuit – wearing Small (I’m 5’10, btw), very comfortable. TTS. Also! 10% of each VLM Tracksuit sale goes to BURU’s non-profit partner, Bring Change to Mind—an amazing organization on a mission to end the stigma of mental illness.
Booties: Sam Edelman Winona Bootie – wearing Modern Ivory Leather. Says runs small, but I went with usual 9.5. If you want to wear socks in the winter, I’d go up a half size.
Necklace: Baublebar (old) – I like the layering of this Baublebar Musia Drusy Y-Necklace!
The Viva La Mere Tracksuit + Sneakers
Tracksuit: Viva La Mere Tracksuit – wearing Small (I’m 5’10, btw), TTS, very comfortable, and I like that I can wear a snazzy boot OR sneakers with it. Very cool look! Also! 10% of each VLM Tracksuit sale goes to BURU’s non-profit partner, Bring Change to Mind—an amazing organization on a mission to end the stigma of mental illness.
Tank: J.Crew, old — I actually like the look of their 1993 Favorite Tank better than my own (and it comes in several colors). I just added to my cart, because will be good for layering sweaters over, etc.,
Backpack: Rebecca Minkoff Julian Backpack – this pretty Julian, while it’s not the exact one I am carrying, it’s pretty darn close. I LOVE a white backpack (no matter the time of year). I also have a crush on the Currant color. Goooooodness.
Sneakers: Adidas Cloudfoam Advantage Sneaker – TTS, wearing normal 9.5, so comfortable. I could wear these all day, every day.
I love this tracksuit.
Thank you BURU for sending me your amazing tracksuit. I am in love.
