So… I’ve developed a bit of a reputation in the TME office as the Comfort Shoe Queen. I will NOT put up with shoes that squeeze and cut and rub and don’t provide support. I take this honor (as I think of it) with great pride. I’m pretty ecstatic when I find a shoe that is not only comfortable (I mean actually comfortable…as in walkable all day comfortable), but cute too AND doesn’t look like an in-your-face orthopedic comfort shoe. Those are the big scores. One comfort brand that I’ve worn for years is Born. They are always on my radar when looking for new winter boots. The gray Born boots I’ve worn for years still look great, are still comfortable, and still have a timeless style that make them a perfect closet staple.
I had never really thought of Born, though, in terms of sandals until Born reached out to TME asking if we would take a look at their spring/summer line. I unabashedly jumped on that opportunity REALLY quickly. Hello! I mean…I am the Comfort Shoe Queen, right? So…I started investigating. I love that Born has a nice selection of neutral, easy-to-wear-with-everything sandals. I especially like the clean lines of these (I’m seriously considering them for my summer travel shoe), and the gladiator style of these and these. As much as I love my bold fun sandals (and I was tempted by these fun red ones) my black and gold flip flops and sandals are really my most worn. If Born sandals last as long as my Born boots have, I like the idea of having a pair of more neutral sandals from them that can be worn year after year. I ended up trying the Trinity sandals in black.
When they arrived, I knew almost instantly they would be one of my day-to-day causal go-tos — walking to the park, walking my kids to their activities, walking to the store, running errands. The few warm days we’ve had, I’ve eagerly slipped them on to run a few errands, and they’ve been great.
They have a super cushy foot bed that feels really nice to walk in, more support than most of the really thin sandals I’ve tried, and the toe “thingy” was fine and didn’t rub the first time I wore them. My favorite part of these sandals (other than the way they look) is the elastic on the back. It’s soft, doesn’t dig into my skin, and makes it a breeze to throw these on as you’re running out of the house.
I have no concerns about these shoes, but I may have ordered the wrong size. I’m usually a 7 or a 7.5. I got a size 7 and they feel great, but my foot hangs over just the tiniest bit. I probably would have been better with the next size up. The 7’s feel really good, though, so I’m going to wear them and love them…I would suggest sizing up, though, if you’re between sizes.
More Born Sandals I’m Loving
Sandals: Comfy, easy on and off with elastic back, and wear-with-everything style
Tee: Thin enough to tuck into skirts, but not super duper see-through
Grocery Bag: This is not the bag I own, this is the bag I SHOULD own! Longer straps than mine.
Shopper Basket: The one pictured is Shana’s gorgeous (but old) one — Etsy has several with similar feels.
Earrings: My daily earring — simple, but with some interest.
Sunnies: Similar to my Warby Parkers
