Everyday Winter Look: A Cozy, Festive Coat & Snowboots

Last week’s recap over here: little S had a miserable preschool illness this past whole week (UGH I’M SO OVER PRESCHOOL GERMS) and we had to take a million trips to the vet with puppy (if you follow me on Instagram @elletrain you’ve seen the cone of shame) Turns out dogs and bandaged feet don’t mix or last for shite. We were a three ring circus with every visit. All of this while trying to get ready for Christmas, traveling and general holiday craziness. It’s been absolutely nuts, but AT LEAST THE SUN WAS SHINING.

This was a quick little outing amidst the insanity to the neighborhood tree lot to pick up a cute little wreath and it was glorious. It was festive. It smelled amazing. And I know the vitamin D helped us so much. I didn’t even get that frustrated with our utter chaos until days later!

And this little girl of mine. She’s been such a trooper and a bright shining face. She’s still been cracking jokes and doing probably too many kitchen dance sessions during her whole little battle with these germs (hand foot and mouth is seriously FOR THE BIRDS you guys. UGH.) Essentially, she’s a way better sick person than I am. I’m horrible. I always think I’m dying and need to be waited on hand and foot (no pun intended) but yet left alone at the same time. Miserable. This little one still plays, eats, laughs and is her jovial self. I learn so much from her.

Outfit Details

Coat – Anthropologie Intarsia Sweater Coat – This coat is so lovely and soft. I love the back peplum for a little waist shaping in back. BUT the best thing about this coat is the gorgeous print. It’s so festive, Nordic-inspired perfection and I adore it for this time of year. Fits true to size. Wearing a Small.

Sweater (similar) – Everlane Cashmere Turtleneck – I reach for my gray cashmere turtleneck ALL the time, especially for layering under any kind of jacket. It’s just soft and cozy and thin enough under even the most fitted jackets I have.

Jeans – DSTLD High Waisted Coated Denim – These are great. I tried a bunch of coated denim jeans a couple of months ago and these were still my favorite. TTS.

Boots – Sorel 1964 Premium CVS Boot – These are great and comfy and have a cozy wool liner inside. They’re waterproof waxed canvas and come in a variety of colors. This black pair comes with both black and the ivory laces I’m wearing. They’re super toasty and I will be pulling them out for any winter galavanting we do.

Sunglasses – Warby Parker Haskell – I recently had to switch back to wearing glasses full time. I got these sunnies and this pair of regular glasses and couldn’t be happier with the styles or the prices. LOVE.

On Sienna: Most of her items are older, but her tights are current and our current favs and her tee is still available! Similar: hatvest | skirt | shoes

Festive Coats

Let’s talk fun coats, like this one I have on. I mean, how festive! And coziness? Off the charts. The back is interesting with a little elastic at the waist and a little peplum. Cute. Kids will definitely want to snuggle you in this coat. It’s irresistible.

I love love a festive coat at the holidays and during the gray winters to add some fun to outdoor excursions and pictures. Yes, solid color coats in black, camel, gray go with everything but I’m really digging this idea of something fun because…you’re covering up half of your outfit with it anyway so why does it matter?! Amiright?! Doh.
