Weekly Favorite Finds in Home Decor 2.9

Well hello there, Sunshine! It’s amazing to see you today! (No, it’s decidedly not always sunny in Philly. It’s very special actually that it’s shining so brightly today.) Anyone else feel a little happier and more energized when the sun actually comes out? The minute Phil didn’t see his shadow, like a small child, I started wishing for the magic of spring time and crossing my fingers that the groundhog got it right this year. It’ll come. For now, all the retailers are beginning to hint at spring with their new lines and items, and talk of outdoors. That chatter, plus Phil, plus a little tease of sunshine, give me hope in all good things to come! A few fun home things below, and all the home things on sale that caught our eyes or seem like really good buys too.

Oh hey, sunshine! This week's favorite finds in home decor feature a little hope & a lot of style. Warm neutrals & rattan for the win! Plus — all the sales!1/ 2/ 3/ 4/ 5/ 6/ 7/ 8/ 9/ 10/ 11/ 12

1/  Magazine Rack Oak, Brass and Felt: This is my very favorite of finds this week. I love that it’s handmade and from Etsy. I love it as a magazine rack, but I also love it as a clever place to tuck iPads and other such electronics.

2/  Square Mod Sun Outdoor Pillow – Project 62: I’m missing my favorite black and white striped outdoor pillow for a great price that sold out in a hot minute last year. This one doesn’t quite have me the way that that one did, but it does capture the spirit, and it might find it’s way to my garden. Holding that thought. But not for too long, b/c this one will sell out too. For sure. Soon enough.

3/  Mumbai Dining Chair: I love these. Something about the fabric, the legs, and that leather handle detailing at the top. They are especially great end chairs if you are doing something simple and wood especially with black between.

4/  Haverhill Dining Chair: A little bit funky, a little bit Danish Modern. Plus brass. I love these chairs and their gleaming neutrals for pairing with some big heavy upholstered ones. I’m curious about the name though. Haverhill, MA has quite the history related to this blog in particular…in women’s shoes and Macy’s, and all kinds of other fun fashion industry history facts. But I’m having a hard time making the connection to the chair itself. Anyone?

5/  Effa Shelf: Pretty and special. Easy to love.

6/  Eames Elephant: These are chairs. And they are so fun. Functional + Fun makes for way better kid spaces.

7/  Button Round Concrete Accent Table: Love this little guy, outdoors and in. He’s a contender for the little side table I’m considering for my shower. Outdoor tables work well in showers…if tables in showers are your kinda thing too.

8/  Vertica Wire Stacking Bins: Best Bins I’ve seen in a while. And they stack, which is wonderful!

9/  Woven Sonia Curtain: Pops, and pops, and more subtle pops of curtains. These are great if you need to lighten a room with some fabric, or to layer over blackout honeycombs in a bedroom too.

10/  Square Floor Pillow – Black Stripe – Hearth & Hand™ with Magnolia: They do get so many things so right. This floor pillow is basic and easy, with just the simplest of detail. I love piles of these near or under a coffee table. The kids pull them out for games, or they become the game, or sometimes they just improve the whole team cuddle on movie night.

11/  Southport Patio Egg Chair – Opalhouse: Spring Trend Alert!…I’m giggling as I write this because that’s not the kinda thing that normally interests me, nor that you’d normally hear from me. I’m not really into trends. I think I actually shy away from things I would otherwise love the minute someone names them a popular trend. I always know that will end soon enough, they’ll go back to just being themselves, and I’ll feel safer pulling them back out then. But, it’s kinda undeniable: you will find rattan everywhere and everything this spring. If there’s one new piece that has my eye right now, it’s this classic egg on legs. It does in fact seem like a wonderful place to hide, cuddle, read. And if you just so happen to have a little spot on a porch, or deck or in a yard, a pair of them would be great. As would a pair of them at the ends of a giant teak outdoor table with so many black chairs between them. Good, clean, classic fun. More than on trend — that’s why I love these.
