We took the kids to the movies the other night. There’s something so romantic about going to the movies. Admittedly, my kids are a bit stymied by the whole concept (Why are they showing that movie? Why can’t we just pick the one we want?), but once we explain that they should think of movies as old-fashioned (compared to their expectation that everything is On-demand), they totally get into it.
Cracks me up.
We went out to see “Solo”, the new Star Wars movie. And true to movie-night cliches everywhere, we had dinner at an Italian Restaurant first. Trattoria Carina is still our fav neighborhood haunt—my kids love the “Ian Special” a kiddie cocktail that Ian (now the manager) invented for them. We typically don’t eat pasta, but we make an exception for Carina. I dream about their Bolognese.
It was pouring rain that night, which further added to the romantic vibe, so I put on high heels. And jeans and an army jacket instead of a Grace Kelly dress, but I added a pretty top to balance it all out. A combo that I’ve been wearing for at least 10-15 years now ’cause if it ain’t broke…whatever. Still works.
Madewell, btw, is killing it right now. Both my top and jacket are from there. I love how the jacket fits so well across my shoulders, but then has a swingy shape.

“Solo” was great, BTW. I went in pretty skeptical – I LOVE Harrison Ford – but was completely convinced a few minutes in. The movie was done in the original spirit of Star Wars, and was a total blast to watch. Our next excursion, however? Umm….
So excited.
