Black top, blue jeans. Is there an outfit more basic and loved than that? I’ve never met anybody that doesn’t wear a version of it. The trick when everybody wears the same thing is to find out a way to make it you. Here’s where accessories come to play! These are the 4 accessories I’m wearing to dress up my black top + blue jeans combo.
Wear a Colorful Accessory = Earrings
I can’t wear all black anymore. I feel boring. The easiest way I add a pop of color to my outfits is through earrings. But I’d also go for a colored thin belt or a bag.
Add a Belt
A good belt has the power to make an outfit look expensive, put together and more stylish.
Carry a Structured Bag
A structured bag looks expensive and put together. This little structured Michael Kors tote is my mom’s. Every time I go to Colombia I borrow it, and have to fight the impulse to steal it. I already have one on my wishlist and I’ll get it any second. I chose my favorite structured bags below. Rebecca Minkoff is having a BUY MORE, SAVE MORE with up to 30% off, so I chose some from her. Most of my bags are RM, and I always get them during these sales.
Rock a Pair of Snakeskin Boots
I was just checking some pictures of Ana Wintour. You know what she was wearing? Snakeskin boots. Of course hers are like a million dollars. But it only means snakeskin is here to stay, and can be worn as a neutral with everything. I’ve worn mine with everything, and now I reach for them all the time.
That’s it! Style is all about making something look like YOU. How do you wear your black top and jeans?
Ps. These jeans are my latest obsession (Hubs too). They have the perfect stretch that still feels like real denim. They are skinny but not that skinny — I don’t know about you, but I’m tired of the mega skinny jeans. They feel a little tight at first but then they are a dream. TTS.
