I’m not always petite…but when I am, it’s at stores like Anthropologie. What I mean by that is they traditionally have great casual pants or killer jackets I adore, but standard size inseams and lengths are just too long on me (without some serious tailoring). And who wants to spend the money on the cute joggers and THEN pay for tailoring? I feel like I want to save that type of commitment for trousers and dresses.
But, alas, Anthropologie is killing it when it comes to offering a wide range of styles in a wide range of sizes (like my Petites). They’re one of the few stores I frequent that seems to carry petite sizing in-store. I’m so glad they’ve started offering plus-size pieces and, best of all, I see they’re providing free return shipping on Plus-size styles. Fabulous.
Current Anthropologie Faves: Winter-To-Spring Outfit Refresh
It had been a while since I actually went into an Anthro, so I grabbed a few of my favorite shoes (a fab tip from Shana for try-on sessions) and headed over to see all the newness. Since Anthro style tends to lean a little more boho/classic than I do, bringing in my favorite high-tops, snake boots, and a graphic tee helped me picture how I’d style some pieces outside of the dressing room.
1. The Softest Moto Jacket For A Pop of Pretty Blue
This baby is GORGEOUS. And it feels like a soft puppy, so there’s that. And let me tell you, anything that might summon some blue skies over here in Portland is welcome. It’s a lighter, suede-like fabric than the suede moto I have from [BLANKNYC] and it’s perfection for spring. I cannot even tell you how soft this is, and it comes in taupe, as well. This is a size Medium Petite here, but I definitely needed the Small Petite as it fits fairly boxy. What a beautiful, fun color this is! I was surprised by how much I liked it on…

2. OK, Maaybe I’m Considering Bootcut Jeans Again Because These Are GOOD
I’m still over bootcut jeans and flares, y’all. When you’re short and don’t wear many heels, that hem is just kinda your nemesis — I feel like I had to deal with them everywhere a decade+ ago, and I’m not sure I want them back. But…they are so leg-lengthening, huh?! I can even get away with my fave kitten heels while wearing the petite size.
p.s. I can’t tell you how soft these are.

3. The Best Camo Joggers I’ve Ever Found
Hooray! Finally, a camo jogger that’s fitted enough not to look frumpy and baggy and comes in a length short enough to not bunch at my ankles. This pair below is actually the regular length, and they’re not bad, but then I tried the 27 Petite and they’re perfect. You do lose a little rise length when you go to petite sizing, so if you have a longer torso that’s something to consider. (I’m 5’4″ for reference.) These lovelies are offered in standard, petite and plus-size so hooray for joggers-for-all!

4. Everyday Cargo Pants That Are Actually Flattering
These came home with me. How cute are they as a jean alternative? The only thing I have trouble with regarding cargo pants is that I much prefer them dressed up. I think these would be cute with my tan Frye combat boots and a cozy sweater for now, though. This blouse is SO so soft, btw and a little more subtle than the leopard one above.

5. This Rad Plaid & Super-Chic Jeans
This coat is really cool. It’s more of a super-soft, faux-suede from [BLANKNYC]. It’s heavier than the moto jacket feels, but that’s probably due to the length. The collar kept opening on me, but I do prefer it laying flat like on the model wears it on the site. It’s just a great statement piece and pretty reasonable, too! Also, these jeans are killer.

6. This Tunic Dress (Comes In A Cute Leopard Print, Too)
This print #starryeyes…so good! I wish this was offered in a petite size, but alas, it’s still a cool, artsy-vibe dress (comes in a gorg leopard print, too). I think this dress is a bit overwhelming on my shorter stature, but I love the mock neck and the stripes and the geometric vibe.

7. Some Great Tie-Dye
I’ve been a little obsessed with finding good tie-dye lately, and Anthro has some for sure. I only tried a couple of pieces, and neither was quite the right price/fit combo to come home with me, but they were still beautiful nonetheless.

Honorable Mentions
Striped Sweater, Gray Jeans & Mustard Top
This striped sweater is adorable and soft, but it’s cashmere, so it’s priced as so. These jeans are cute and a great wash, but low in stock and tight in the thighs. LOVE the color of this mustard top for all seasons — especially styled with the gray jeans.

Soft Cloth & Stone Joggers
These joggers were super soft, but I needed petite, which they offer online but not in my store. Not sure how I feel about the contrast drawstring, though…

Where did you get those heels???
They’re Boden, but from last year. I keep searching for a close pair and haven’t quite found any besides an all-black style.
Does Anothropolgie carry talls in store?
I’m not sure. I haven’t seen them at my store in Portland but forgot to look specifically. I have noticed more and more offerings online both petite and tall. Hoping for more!
I need tall sizing as well (in bottoms), but I don’t think Anthropologies normally carries tall sizes. I have occasionally seen tall sizing on their Pilcro bottoms online, however.
I’ve seen more and more offerings online for sure, but yeah not sure about in-store either. I wish they’d offer more free shipping and returns across the board for things they don’t offer in the stores!
I have those camo joggers too and they are amazing! They aren’t as casual-looking as other joggers (I think because of the button and the rear pockets), but are so comfy. Obsessed!
Agreed! They’re more fitted and have almost a jean styling in the details. Love them, too.
I just received the tie-dye, long sleeved midi dress pictured above, in the lighter color and it is GOOD! The best part is it is lightly lined which is brilliant for camouflaging any bumps and bruises in a clingy t-shirt dress! I love it- even at full price, it’s a keeper!
Ooh so good to hear! Thank you for that review. Gotta try it then!
