A Neutral-Lover Attempts Valentine’s Day Outfits

Okay, guys. I decided to step out of my comfort zone and put together a few Valentine’s Day outfits. I went pretty literal because the holidays are the one time of year you can really get into kitschy things (although, those of you who can rock it all year, you’re my hero(es)).

I do love a good pop of red, but pink has never been a fave. It’s starting to grow on me in the streetwear world, but just flat-out, girly-pink clothes? Not my thing. There’s also the irony that I most likely will be in my oversized tee on the couch on Valentine’s Day. So there’s that. I’m not qualified for this topic at all (ha!), but that’s what made this challenge so…fun?

Yeah. Let’s go with fun. 😉

Valentine’s Day 6 Ways: Outfit Ideas For All Your Plans

Outfit Idea #1: For Date Night (If I Had One)

A power suit for a date? PLUS military boots? Bad. Ass. If you get a second date wearing this, they’re your person. If not, they prob couldn’t handle the strong female vibes. More importantly, a jumpsuit takes away the stress of putting together an outfit AND it’s comfy. Easy. I added in some heart earrings, but the one review said they’re pretty heavy, (I’m generally okay with heavier earrings, and I thought they were too cute to not include). If you really wanna intimidate and go all-out, that eyeshadow palette has the prettiest v-day colors. I’d wear the purple as a winged eyeliner.

Outfit Idea #2: For Good Old-Fashioned Galentine’s Day

You might be wondering why the girls’ night outfit is dressier than the date-night. WELL. When my girlfriends and I go out, we tend to go all-out with the outfits. The top is semi-sheer, so the red bralette can peek out a little. The red leather belt is AMAZING (and comes in so many other fabrics and colors), and finish strong with a black bootie (let the sheer sock peek out), and lashes. Wink, wink.

Outfit Idea #3: For A Movie Night (What I’ll Most Likely Be Wearing)

Ugh…I wish I was wearing this right now. So cozy, so CUTE. This crewneck is too adorable to pass up, AND it is very Valentine’s Day appropriate.

Outfit Idea #4: For The Last-Minute Gift Giver

Okay, but this t-shirt is me. Music over love any day. (Joking… sort of.) Tuck the tee into some fun jeans, belt it, and layer with a comfy bralette (because I hate real bras) and moto jacket. And finally I have a reason to include those Comme des Garçons converse that I’ve been drooling over!! Grab your purse, slap on a pretty lipstick, pull your hair up with a scrunchie and you’re out the door to pickup your last-minute Valentine gifts.

Outfit Idea #5: For A Romantic (Or Just Cozy) Bedtime

I’m here to tell you to buy yourself those pjs you’ve been eyeing. Yes, you need them. Especially for days like this — when you want the full pamper session. You deserve it. I read the reviews on that lip balm, and they all seem to love it. Winter lips are a no-go, especially if you’re with your valentine. Side note: those UGG slippers come in so many Valentine’s Day (or not) appropriate colors… too hard to choose!

Outfit Idea #6: For the Office (In Shades of Pink)

Does anyone rock color to the office? I feel like gray, black and white are the general colors for workwear, but who says you can’t wear pink trousers instead of gray ones? For a quick makeup touch, pop on the blush AND lippie (yes, you can use it for both…how convenient.) Plus, creamy blushes look more like a natural flush.

Even if you’re not all gung-ho about this “holiday” (like me), at least there are so many fun, pretty things out in the stores! It’s an excuse to shamelessly wear allll the red and pink you want. Maybe I’LL even try it out this year…we’ll see.

  1. Pink isn’t really my jam, either (unless it’s full on hot pink, I find it just isn’t saturated enough for my coloring) but I love that giant houndstooth sweater!
