It’s Winter Slump Time…cue Saturday Night Live Debbie Downer voiceover “wah-waaaah”. Sorry guys…It’s cold. It’s gray. I’m done wearing playful holiday pieces, and have officially moved on to soft, plain, neutral-colored sweaters and comfortable jeans.
Don’t you DARE try to inspire me to ditch my Sweater And Jeans Winter Slump Uniform–it’s NOT happening.
Jeans Outfit Inspo: Bootie Refresh To Combat The Winter Blues
I AM, however, willing to play around a bit with some shoe updates. That feels A LOT more manageable. Especially when there are some super easy-to-wear bootie trends that can work with my go-to winter slump attire.

1. Incorporate A Light-Colored Bootie

This is my favorite bootie refresh and the one I’ve been wearing the most. Feels just fresh enough and easy to incorporate into any wardrobe. I’ve been wearing my Everlane Ecru Day Gloves with a black sweater and light-colored blue denim, all black, my olive cardigan, and with monochromatic blues (and a pop of ecru).

2. Switch To A Square-Toed Bootie

If you want to stick with your fav colored bootie (for many of you, that’s black), but still want an update, an easy refresh is a switch to the square toe. You don’t need to change any of your normal styling. Wear your favorite outfits but with a square toe instead of pointy or round.
Pretty much, the easiest bootie refresh available. I REALLY wanted to try these, because they’re GORGEOUS….ahh that brown trim on the black is perfect (and they come in a cream color as well)– but they were back-ordered when I was shopping. They are restocked, but selling out fast AGAIN. If anyone has them, let me know their comfort level.

3. Rock ANY Shade Of Blue Bootie

Classic blue is the Pantone Color of the Year, but as Laura points out in her post, that particular shade is VERY hard to find…especially in a bootie. Any blue, though, is a pretty fun refresh to replace your brown and black “go-tos”. The ones pictured are so freakin’ cool — and comfortable enough, but you know I like my comfort brands, so I’ve been wearing these Fly Londons any time I would normally throw on my brown clogs. They almost always work to make whatever I’m wearing a bit more interesting. You could really make a statement with monochromatic whites/creams and then a pop of blue with your booties, but light blue denim and all black also looks great with blue-hued booties.

Any other wardrobe updates you’re considering that wouldn’t disrupt my Cold-weather Sweater And Jeans Uniform?
