The One Where Our Kids Pick Their Back-To-School Shoes

Once upon a time, I was able to — successfully — pick out clothes for my kids. I would simply buy whatever struck my fancy, and then wrestle them into it. Done. Admittedly, that phase was pretty short-lived. Both of my kids have pretty strong ideas of what they like to wear, and I know they’re not the only ones. So when we started getting reader requests for a back-to-school shoe roundup, I was apprehensive. I picked out a few shoes, showed my boys and….waited. “Oh Mom,” Raines said. “You and Linzi-Auntie” (and yes I’ll just throw Linz right under that bus with me)”both think you know what kids like…but you don’t. I mean…remember those star shoes?”

For the record, I still love those star shoes. But OK, kid. Fine. YOU do it.

  4. So fun. My almost five year old has asked for “tie shoes,” and after telling her that they don’t really make those in her size, since most kids can’t tie bows yet, I’m getting Converse for her birthday. Yesss. I have waaay too much fun shopping for kid shoes.
