For someone who doesn’t spend much time getting ready in the morning, I spend A LOT of time researching, purchasing and trying out beauty products. My desire to keep my head on that silk pillowcase for as long as possible each morning is STRONG. And this desire heavily influences my dedication to finding THE most efficient “get-ready routine” possible. I’m all about low-fuss (especially in the morning!).
**HOLIDAY GIFT ALERT** Low-fuss (for me) does NOT mean low-luxe. I am obsessed with this 100% Silk Face Mask and these 100% Silk Pillowcases. A total holiday gift win! Silk helps with your skin’s moisture level and has less friction than cotton, which means using these totally luxurious and indulgent items is low-fuss beauty, right? Especially since we have to wear masks and sleep on pillowcases anyway? Low-fuss or not…I really cannot emphasize enough JUST how soothing and soft and ah-mazing this silk feels next to your skin. I would be thrilled during the holidays to receive anything from Slip.
My Top 10 Favorite Low-Maintenance Beauty Products
In addition to my beloved Slip silk purchases, I’m sharing my other absolute favorite low-fuss beauty products available at Nordstrom. I don’t use all of these products every day, of course…many days I only use hyaluronic powder, a NudeStix, and mascara…but even for low-fuss morning routines, it’s nice to have options.
This stuff is pretty much magic. It’s colorless (so it doesn’t stain masks), totally blurs skin and disguises pores, AND contains hyaluronic acid, so it’s moisturizing and non-drying. A few quick swipes with a powder makeup brush, and instantly I have smoother-looking skin. So fast and easy.
Shana sold me on this one. I was VERY skeptical at first, and and now I’m obsessed. This total indulgence actually DOES help with my morning hair situation. I have curly hair, and my hair is usually insane when I wake up. After sleeping on this silk pillowcase, though? MUCH less insanity. Even if I don’t do any damage control in the mirror when I wake up, I can be in the background of my kids’ school Zoom call and not feel totally beauty-shamed. Silk fibers (since they’re less absorbent) are also supposed to help with your skin’s moisture while you sleep (i.e. less wrinkles/skin-creases), and significantly reduce friction for hair and skin benefits. I consider this totally low-fuss since I’m helping my skin and hair by sleeping on the softest pillowcase ever…brilliance, I say. Would be an amazing holiday gift!
I HATE fussing with my hair…it’s curly and it does what it wants, when it wants. All the Oribe products I’ve tried, though, help manage my hair’s desire to frizz out or go completely limp (without too much fussing). I use Oribe Curl Silkening Cream or Curl Butter when I get out of the shower (just a quick glop throughout my hair with my hands,) and it helps to reduce frizz and shape my curls. If it’s a day I want a little more structure to my curls, I use Oribe’s Rough Molding Wax in the same way…just a quick run through my wet hair. During the day sometimes my curls get too soft or too “boingy”, so I use Oribe’s Apres Beachspray if the curls need just a bit more texture, and I use Oribe’s Dry Texturizing Spray when they need a lot more texture. All it takes is a quick spray as I walk by the mirror.
I love this product! It’s my go-to for days I’m out and about all day wearing a mask. Doesn’t rub off on masks and provides SPF 40 with just enough low-fuss skin smoothing power. If I want it to offer true skin-smoothing texture, I do use quite a bit…a nice big nickel-size squirt on my hand.
On Zoom call days that I want smoother more even-looking skin, or if I’m going to an outdoor restaurant where I’ll have my mask off, I use this great tinted moisturizer. It’s a TME team favorite for sure! I put it on with my fingers (like I’m applying sunscreen)…quick and easy. You can also be “fancy” and apply it with a brush or sponge, but I usually can’t be bothered with all of that. A little goes a long way, and it goes on even easier if you have time to put this primer on first.
I’ve had a ton of reader requests for me to try this luxe silk mask, and I’m so glad I did. I personally haven’t had trouble with “maskne”, but reviews say if you ARE having skin trouble, 100% silk masks help. And I am all for a low-fuss option like this in trying to keep my skin as healthy as possible. The 100% silk feels amazingly luxurious, is plenty breathable for everyday use, has a strong nose wire that prevents glass fog (with extra spare wires), has adjustable ear loops (with spare adjustment pieces), and is triple-layered. This mask’s two outer layers are 100% long-fiber mulberry silk, and there’s an additional layer inside that is 100% cotton. Three layers (with at least one of them being cotton) is what I usually look for in a mask. An indulgent purchase for sure, but one that would be a super-fun gift for yourself or a loved one. Comes in two great animal prints, and three pretty solids.
I LOVE these things! I’m having a bit of a NudeStix purchasing problem since the pandemic started. I’ve been obsessed with trying all the colors. I use this guy (matte) or this guy (dewey) for a quick swipe of color on my cheeks and sometimes a quick swipe on my eyelids and lips too. One and done. One side of the stick has the color and the other side has a built-in brush. YES for efficiency!
For days I want a bit of extra glow, this glow stick is difficult to mess up…even for those of us not highly skilled in makeup application. A quick swipe at the top of my cheek bones, eyes, and/or lips, and use the other end of the stick to blend a bit…or your fingers. Easy, easy, easy.
I’ve used Lancome Definicils mascara since I first started wearing makeup. It’s my favorite for everyday natural looking eyelashes. Recently, though, with mask wearing I often like a little bit more length and fullness, so I sometimes use Lancome Hypnose Drama (just make sure you don’t have too much mascara on the wand) or I’ll do a quick swipe of this mascara primer before doing a quick swipe of my go-to Lancome Definicils.
Okay…this isn’t total non-fuss…you’ve got to do a bit of work with this one. With mask-wearing, I’ve had to get a little creative. I’ve found that if I use YSL’s lip stain, let it set in, and then dab any excess off before putting on my mask…it works. Or at least it works good enough. It still stains the inside of my mask sometimes, but my lips maintain just enough color. Any other lip stains I’ve tried have been too drying for me. I like YSL’s red and orange stains, as well as their natural looking lip stains for everyday wear. The color samples shown on different skin tones on Nordstrom’s site are very accurate, and if you receive the color and it’s TOTALLY wrong…easy and free Nordstrom returns.
I’ve been buying little hand-sanitizers for my purse and backpack at the grocery store, and they smell TERRIBLE! I added the 2 oz size of this hand sanitizer and the travel size of this one last minute to my Nordstrom order, and I can’t believe the difference. At $6 and $10, they are comparable prices to the stinky ones from my grocery store, have the same 70% alcohol content, and leave SUCH a pleasant scent after use (UNLIKE the grocery store brands). The scent is strong initially when it goes on, but within seconds you are left with a nice pleasant scent. If you have a Nordstrom cart started, throw these in there.
Shop My Top 10 No-Fuss Beauty Products
I was so excited when Nordstrom reached out to TME about a beauty post. They carry ALL my go-to makeup and hair products, and shopping with Nordstrom is SUPER low-fuss. One-stop-shop for all my beauty favorites, free shipping, free easy returns, and they make it ridiculously easy to buy online and then pick up-in-store or curbside. Added benefit….I buy all my makeup and hair products from Nordstrom because it contributes to my Nordy Club Points (which earns those fun reward certificates). Those points also contribute to increasing my Nordy Club status (which gives me early access during Anni sale time, free alterations, as well as other fun perks). It’s a total no-brainer for me since they carry all my favorite products and brands anyway.
Thank you again, Nordstrom & Shopstyle, for sponsoring this post and giving me the opportunity to share my Nordstrom Beauty favs. So.Much.Fun!
