I was pretty excited about my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Capsule Wardrobe, but when I walked into the actual store, my cute outfit ideas vanished, and ALLLLLL I could focus on were the cardigans. I was literally piling them into my arms. Vince? Yes. Two colors, please. Amazing cardi-coat under $45? Yes, please. Cute Side-Tie Cardigan? Oh yes…that too!
Thankfully, we had already placed an order based on my Capsule Wardrobe and my Top Eileen Fisher Picks with Lori at Nordstrom (if you’re local, go see her!), so I DID make it home with this Clare V bag (even cuter in person), this FRAME striped sweater (looked good with EVERY.SINGLE.THING I tried it on with), these Zella joggers (LOVE!), and comfy Eileen Fisher booties (obvi!). I, did, however ALSO make it home with…warning…quite a few cardigans.

A. 6 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Finds I’ll Be Wearing This Fall
6 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Finds I’ll Be Wearing This Fall
1. Cozy Cardigans With Jeans
What a find! So silky soft, so beautiful in person, and so completely luxurious. Even Shana (hater of almost all cardigans) has already wanted to borrow it. Super-versatile over MANY jeans and tops options. Vince is pricey (even on sale), so scroll down if you’re looking for a more budget-friendly beige cardigan option.

AND….gorgeous in black too!

Under $45!!! This stellar cardi-coat is one of my favorite pieces I tried. AND it’s under $45! It’s soft and cozy enough to wear inside, but will also be a great top layer for fall. Did I mention it’s UNDER $45???

I’m a total sucker for an interesting black cardigan, and this one from Madewell does not disappoint. Not nearly as soft as the Vince black cardigan, but I do love the side-tie and it’s much more budget-friendly.

2. Cute Face Masks
Okay…these face masks are NOT in the Anni Sale, but they come in a pack of 4 for $20, and we all need masks, so I’m including them in the selfies. These are very breathable and have that cool design where you adjust the fit around your ears with a single tie at the base of your neck. Several different pattern packs.

3. Cashmere Hoodie
I did NOT anticipate walking out of Nordstrom with this guy. BUT….he is so INSANELY cozy and somehow makes even joggers feel a little fancy. If I’m going to be home ALL WINTER LONG with a soft hoodie as my uniform, I might as well make sure that it’s one I love.
Although I do adore the fancy Nordstrom Signature Cashmere Hoodie, this cozy top IS much more practical in terms of budget. It MAY technically be a pajama top, but I’m going to ignore that because I think it looks great as a real top.
4. Zella Joggers
I’m nervous these silly joggers are going to sell out fast. They’re soft, lightweight, and a great price. If they do, these and these from Zella were my second choices. I sized down to the XS and like the fit better. My plan is to wear them as work-out pants that transition well to stay-at-home pants with comfy sweaters and cardigans.
b. With Tie-Dye
5. “I-Feel-Pretty” Top
Although this FRAME top above is COMPLETELY not practical for a socially distanced fall and winter, I do want to walk away from this sale with at least one special top that makes me feel pretty. I think this FRAME Black Ruffled Top TOTALLY meets that requirement…so special…but the other more wearable-for-everyday options below might be a better call.
This black and white striped mock neck sweater looked good with EVERY SINGLE THING I tried on. It’s a tad itchy, but I only noticed when I first put it on and then it was fine…especially once I saw how good it looked with everything.
This is another annoyingly expensive, but absolutely gorgeous piece from Vince. I do think, however, that this piece would definitely get the best cost per wear of all the special tops. I could see myself gravitating to this sweater all the time.
I had such high hopes for this Eileen Fisher top. It does look a lot better in person than it does on the model or in this photo. The silk, pattern, and color are really very pretty, but the fit wasn’t right on me. It was too big and too fussy to try and half-tuck. The sleeves also weren’t quite right on me.
6. Comfy Shoes
The first P448s I’ve ever tried and I’m in LOVE! I’m not usually a fancy sneaker gal, but the orange drip paint design got me! They come with several other great color accents (a beautiful royal blue, and I like the simple black too), but I’m super-drawn to the fun orange. These JUST came in a few minutes ago, so haven’t had a chance to style them up, but look for them in my next round of selfies.
Fav boots so far!!! I don’t usually gravitate toward Vince boots, but Shana grabbed these and I figured I would give them a try. Turns out…they are lovely. The color is perfection (not too matchy-matchy with all the fall tones and JUST the right shade that goes with everything), they are comfortable (the heel is high, but somehow doesn’t feel high at all), and they looked good with ALL the denim. AND they are weatherproof! I’m holding out, though, because I do want to compare them with the these Aquatalias that have a similar vibe and come in really good colors. The Aquatalias should be arriving soon.
MUCH more lightweight than I anticipated. Easy to slip off and on as well. Eileen Fisher comfort (not super-cushy, but plenty of support and very walkable). I like the gray for more versatility, but the black with the on-trend tan detailing looks great in person too. I’m wondering if I may go for a darker green (in the Vince or Aquatalias) instead of the gray, and do the Eileen Fishers in black instead. I definitely gravitated toward the Vince ones in my selfies.
WOW! Just wow! I haven’t decided if these luxe Paul Green Boots are TOTALLY my style, but they are so freakin’ cool. I felt like a rock star wearing them. The gold buckle on the side, the just-shiny-enough patent sheen, and they are SUPER-comfortable. UGH…just what I need…a new pricey comfort shoe brand to love!
Oh man, guys. I had SUCH high hopes for these Aquatalias, but they are too western for me. And look too much like real snakes…they weird me out a bit. BUT, if you like the style, they’re plenty comfortable and weatherproof. Aquatalias have pretty much a cult-following….readers LOVE them and keep them for years and years.
I’m usually a New Balance gal, but these were just too fun not to try. SOOOOO lightweight and easy slip-on/slip-off/no-tie….brilliant. They looked really cute with basic workout pieces too.
Seems a little funny to be buying sandals with all the fabulous fall pieces, but the Anni Sale has so many good Eileen Fisher sandal options…and these black ones, because they’re a bit more substantial and chunkier, would totally work for early fall.
**4 Pieces With Unexpected Sizing Issues*
a. Reconsider This Top: Unless You Want To Show Your Belly
Another big Free People surprise….was hoping the top above was going to hit right at the top of my joggers…it didn’t.
b. Size Up In This Vince Tee For More Drape
I’m usually an XS or S in tops, but I definitely liked the medium best for a bit of relaxed drape in this Vince tee.
c. Size Down In This Free People Sweatshirt
The striped top above is another Free People top that was WAY bigger than I had anticipated. So super-cozy, but definitely oversized.
d. Size Up In Veronica Beard Denim
I love these Veronica Beard jeans, but I usually wear a 27 (sometimes a 26) and these I definitely needed the 28.
