So the first shipment of my Nordstrom Anniversary Sale purchases finally arrived TODAY. I could not be more excited to share my favorites with you guys — especially after drooling over Linzi & Laura’s picks all weekend. I set up a little table with water and snacks for our delivery drivers (thank you Pinterest) and waited for the boxes to come. 

Some of you may have caught our Facebook Live this morning when the first one arrived–containing my champagne flutes and a coat that’s sold out in most sizes. And although those are great finds, they’re somewhat anticlimactic when you’ve been waiting to try on ALL THE THINGS. (Btw, those champagne flutes are much less pink in person…they’re a really pretty blush color and are dishwasher-safe!) 

And on the topic of sold-out items, we hear your frustration. I tried my best not to include pieces that were sold out in this post. We’re doing the best we can to keep our content fresh and updated with the most current stock available. However, there’s always a huge influx of returns throughout the sale, so be sure to check back to see if an item you love comes back in stock in your size! Nordstrom’s mobile app makes it really easy to do this–at the top of your wish list, make sure you have “notify me when an item goes on sale or comes back in stock” toggled on. (I myself am stalking this Vince jacket I missed out on!)

My Favorite Boots In The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (+ 8 Killer Outfits For Fall)

Shoes and boots are always my favorite investment during the sale–the sizing is pretty consistent (despite any quarantine pounds) and they can easily make an entire outfit. I’ve been drooling over these three pairs since I first peeked at the preview and am happy to report that I LOVE them all. Here’s how I styled them:

Louise et Cie Ankle Boots 

These Louise et Cie boots come in black, red and a cool black and white pattern, but the birch leather is a gorgeous warm brown that goes with everything. They’re a little stiff when you first put them on (I was worried they’d be uncomfortable when I first put them on), but they seemed to break in fairly easily. Mine loosened up just by walking around the house for a bit. The heel is stable but has that skinny part in the middle that makes it look almost like a stiletto, and the toe is pointy without killing your toes.

Outfit 1: Ankle Boots + Skinny Jeans + An Off-the-Shoulder Sweater

This sweater was so much better than I expected! It’s a lot softer than I thought it would be (for some reason I thought it was going to be that stiff sweater material) and the color is much better in person. I just kind of folded it under (no need to tuck) and it stayed perfectly slouchy.   

Also, these jeans? I thought I was ordering the Good Waist (the fit I have in multiple colors and love), but when they arrived I was surprised to see these were the Good Legs fit. I’m actually happy I made the mistake because they have a slightly lower rise but still accommodate a bigger booty and show off all the curves like Good American is known for and I LOVE the wash. I love that they will go with black AND brown.

Add A Matching Moto Jacket 

I liked this jacket, but it was a bit disappointed by the color. It was better in person than the picture of the model wearing it, but still slightly…off. Orrrr maybe that was just because I was comparing it to the gorgeousness that is the Rachel Parcell leather moto…in any case, this one was good but not great. But it does match these ankle booties perfectly! Oh, and it also comes in black–and at under $60 it really is a great buy.

Outfit 2: Ankle Boots + Cropped Straight Jeans + Off-the-Shoulder Sweater

I love the fit of these jeans. Although they’re called “high-rise,” I think they’re more of a true mid-rise…they’re higher than the AG Prima’s I have, but definitely not as high as the Good American’s above. It’s actually refreshing to have a pair right in the middle…not too low when you aren’t feeling the really high rises. And the length?? Perfect!! How is that possible?

Outfit 3: Ankle Boots With Cropped Jeans + A Tee

We were discussing the wash of these jeans during our Facebook Live the other day. I actually think I like it–it’s not as intense in person as I thought it was going to be and the lighter part on the front of the legs is slimming. They do remind me of the early 2000s, though, and I’m not sure if that’s a good thing or a bad thing…everything always comes back around, right??

Add A Gorgeous Leather Jacket

OK, here it is: my top pick as of right now is this jacket. Ahhhhmazing. The color, the fit, the softness of the leather… this will go with everything. And I love that the belt can come completely off if you want! (It also comes in a really pretty light blush color, but I’m obsessed with this tan color.)

Vince Camuto Derika Leather Boot

This was the first pair of boots I saw in the preview and I was like “YES–these!” I like that the slouchiness is sewn into the shaft so the boot itself stays up. I was worried the heel would be too high, but it doesn’t feel like 3 1/2 inches somehow. (Some reviewers have mentioned that these run small in the calf, FYI!)

 Outfit 4: Knee High Boots + Skinny Jeans + Oversized Sweater

This is the sweater we’re all obsessed with right now. This color is sold out, but it’s the fit and the fabric that I’m really loving. I’m wearing a small here and although I probably could have sized down, I like the oversized fit–and being able to tie it on the side (see pic below). The ballet pink and cinnamon marl colors are both gorgeous and perfect for fall–and would both look amazing with these boots!

The skinny jeans, moto jacket and the off the shoulder sweater I love…easy. I like mixing the black wash of the jeans with the shades of camel.

Sam Edelman Davis Knee High Boots 

I wasn’t sure if I’d like these boots but am SO happy I tried them because they. Are. Gorgeous. That color and fit is PERFECTION. They stay up, don’t slouch, are super-soft and go with everything (I’m sensing a theme here). The chunky block heel is really cool but I just realized you can’t see it in these pics–follow the link to check it out!

Outfit 6: Knee High Boots + Mock Neck Mini Dress

This mini dress was such a fun find! It is SHORT…I’m 5’4″ and it was just about as short as I’d go, but leggings (or tights) are an easy fix if you’re not comfortable with the length.

Add Leggings For Colder Weather…

SPANX leggings for the win!! I love mine and wear them ALLL the time during the fall and winter. They kind of just hold everything in without restricting your movement at all. This whole leggings + tunics + boots + moto jackets is basically my fall uniform.

I thought I’d try to get a little creative with my layering and was surprised by how much I liked this combination. It’s perfect for places that get COLD really fast in the fall, too (like Marquette).

Outfit 8: Knee High Boots + Leggings + Tee + a Cozy Cardigan

This outfit reminds me of that perfect fall outfit you see all over Pinterest. Leggings, boots, and a cozy cardigan. These Caslon tees run long, so they’re kind of perfect to pair with leggings (although I personally probably wouldn’t wear that combo without a cardigan to cover my booty). I think the brown boots make this outfit a little more interesting.

Interesting Fails: Adidas Stan Smiths

I had NO idea these were going to have a shiny, patent-leather type finish to them. I love Adidas Stan Smiths, but these were too much…even for me. They take white sneakers to a whole new level. (Still comfy, though!)

JOE’S Honey Curvy Bootcut Jeans

I had such high hopes for these, you guys. If you’re tall, slightly curvy, and looking for a lower rise, these could work, but on me, the rise was too low. The waistband kept falling and there was too much room in the butt and thigh area–muffin top if I didn’t keep pulling them up. Also, the length was insane. I have a good 5 inches tucked up there…sadly, these are going back.
