Guys. Hello. First off, I wrote a whole bigger article In True Laura Fashion with some fun styling ideas and…the majority of it sold out overnight. (Melting face emoji) BUT, thankfully, there are still some REALLY solid finds (dare I say hidden gems?) that I still can share!
We hear your frustrations loud and clear that it’s not fun to see continued coverage of sold out pieces (like the pants that I cannot believe were my surprise fave — I AM STILL NOT OVER THIS.) Can we all just do a collective little scream here for a sec? Imagine working all day yesterday only to have to cut half of your freaking work. OK.
But moving forward — now on to the fashion that remains!
Blazers AND Sneakers? My Kind Of Heaven: A Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Try-On
These Nike sneakers, unsurprisingly, were actually the first thing from the entire sale that I tried on, and lo and behold they’re still my favorite. But also these Pistola jeans were totally one of those hidden gems I was talking about!
But if you’re looking for more…keep scrolling friends. Jeans, athleisure, a hint of faux leather and — you guessed it — blazers are all in store for us below. Blazers AND sneakers? A match made in my kind of heaven.
And hey, when you’re done shopping here, be sure to head over to our Ultimate Guide to the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, where we have everything you could possibly want to know about the NSale.
1. The Shoes
Sneakers (8)
These Nike Court Vision Alta Sneakers are a serious top pick. I just bought some Blazer Low Platforms a couple of weeks ago…but these cool babies have mesh sides and a similar awesome platform, plus feel ultra-sporty.
They’re cool + unique without being costume-y or too over-the-top. They give Air Force One vibes (which I love) — but with a summery twist? Idk. But I like how they look and feel, and isn’t that what we’re here for!
And the heel knocks down for easy slip-on, too. TTS. Just awesome.
2. The Jeans
Tee (M) | Bag (Not on sale) | Jeans (29) | Sneakers
Okaayy, Pistola Palazzo jeans. You are the one pair of jeans I felt like styling up this year (I had trouble getting the black denim I was eyeing in the right size in-store).
But damnnn, how cool are these? I am not typically a fan of palazzo jeans or super-wide legs on me, but the front seam and the cut on these is phenomenal. They are preeeeeetty high waisted and a little snug, but they make me feel amazing. And I can tell this denim is going to give a little bit without getting baggy.
I definitely need a platform sneaker or heeled boot, but they aren’t wayyy too long. I’m 5’4″ as a reminder or to any new peeps (hey, new peeps!)
3. The Oversized Blazer
Blazer (6) | Tee (M) | Bag | Jeans (29) | Boots
This baby is so rad. It’s not surprising that an AllSaints blazer is a favorite pick. I adore this London-based brand and typically come home with a few pieces of theirs from the Nordstrom sale each year. This one is oversized but I stuck to a size-ish I usually wear so it wouldn’t be too overwhelming on my shorter frame. I think this worked well, and I can’t wait to style it more ways! A serious top pick for sure!
4. The Pants
Tee (M) | Pants (6) | Bag | Sneakers (8.5)
I still need to play around with what to pair with these pants, but the rag & bone Dylan Crop Wide Leg Tweed Pants are amazingly well-made and fit beautifully. They have a nubby texture and are lined and in a medium weight fabric. They lay so nicely on I just need to figure out what I want to put on top. I think a really great cropped jacket or ivory vest.
The MOTHER tee? Super fun and cute. It is thinner cotton if you’re not on-board with that, but I find that’s what I want this time of year…and if you have seen me here at all before, you know I love a graphic tee moment! Alternatives I am loving? This one and this one. Not on sale, but both under $40.
5. The Everyday Jacket
Jacket (M) | Top (M) | Joggers (M) | Sneakers (39)
The Blanc Noir Tectonic Hooded Jacket was a fun find in the athletic wear section I wasn’t expecting. I love all the details like the zipper pockets, the hood, the drawstring and the thumbholes in the sleeve liners. It does run a little small so definitely size up if between. I could maybe have taken a Large if I thought I’d wear it zipped all the time. It does have a double zipper thankfully but was still a little tight in my hips.
I’m still awaiting a coat-find this time around. I did try on this stunning option in-store but gosh. That is nowhere near my price-range. It was beautifully made though.
I’m also waiting on this one to arrive because I think it’ll be good and doesn’t break the bank!
6. The Faux-Leather Pant
Tee (M) | Pants (29) | Sneakers (8)
Hey now! You know it’s Portland dressed up when it A) includes sneakers and B) is waterproof. Haha.
I adore the look of these BlankNYC Franklin Faux Leather Wide Leg pants but they are very high-waisted for this mama and uh…the snap kept coming undone when I moved. It was a day, ya’ll but if you are taller through the torso than I am and nipped in at the waist more, these will be phenomenal for you. It’s OK because I’ve had a similar pair for years now.
7. The Jogger Alternative
Top (M) | Bottoms (M) | Sneakers (8)
These pants from Zella are really comfy and light and cottony instead of swishy nylon. They were a little too high-rise to fit me perfectly, but I loved being able to style them up.
8. The 3-Piece Suit (Why Not?)
Blazer (M) | Vest (M) | Pants (8) | Bag | Boots
I. Freaking. Love. This. Set. Well, it’s sold separately but gah. Love. I was bummed because not every piece fit me great, but it’s so cool and the items are reasonably priced, since their from Nordstrom’s in-house line Halogen.
I could have sized up one in the pants, and I think the vest is just a tiny bit too long for my torso (you see the pattern here) but gah. Love. I have the pants tucked under a bit here, too. (Btw these boots run small. They are so cool but tight at the toes!)
Whew. Ok, friends. Well hopefully I can recreate some of the styling ideas I had with the original pieces for you soon — and with better stocked items. Such is the insanity of this week of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, I guess! Thanks for sticking with us and all your support. Send coffee! Haha.
