Boyfriend jean shorts, I love you. Slouchy white tee, you rock my world. What a cool pair and I rarely ever feel the need to add much when I’m sportin’ this combo. Slipping on a simple sandal or canvas shoe, as I’m running out the door for preschool drop-off, does the trick. You all have your momiform, that tried-and-true combination, that you wear the heck out of…whether it be cut-offs and a graphic tee, wide leg jeans and a tank. Whatever it may be, you love it and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
I am all about it. However, there are days that I do like to mix it up and try to look just a little extra hot…not for any particular reason, other than I frikkin’ want to. The only thing is, I don’t do complicated. Never have (even more so now as a mom). Simple, simple, simple is my game. You too?
Well, I tirelessly slaved away at coming up with an “outfit formula” for ya; meaning, I threw these shoes on with what I had on already and…score – ha!
It’s all in the shoe, ya’ll.
The Formula:
Yessss. I love it when things are easy like that. I could have also done a colorful bag (or necklace or even headband), instead of the bright shoes. The game plan was to add one component that wowed and made it look like I put a lot of thought into my outfit…when in reality, the shoes did all of the work for me (with the help of the fringe bag and its sassy frassness). I’d say it worked…and I barely did anything. That’s a WIN.
How I Wore it (with a boy that just discovered the joys of walking…oh, yay?)
Eeeeeeee. Exciting, but oh.my.gosh. He is on a mission to give me a heart attack. Daily. BOYS. Wtf do you mamas of boys do to stay calm, cool and semi-collected?! Teach me your ways.
wearing
shades: Sole Society Smythe sunglasses c/o, sold out…but their Alexia shades are on-point.
tee: Leith Oversized V-neck tee – I wear this thing a lot…with shorts, jeans…ummm everything? eeeeh heh.
shorts: Madewell Denim Boyshorts, rip and repair edition (wearing my normal size, 27) – THE best, but S and I did have a discussion about them…and they may look better on tall gals. Just FYI. I would still try them on, nonetheless. They rock.
shoes: Sole Society Jenn d’orsay pump c/o – the lower heel is awesome, because you wouldn’t catch me in anything higher with my kids. No way, no how. I do recommend going up a half size, because of the narrowness of the toe. They are definitely a tighter fit. I went with the Ocean Coral, but I was seriously considering the Blue Raspberry. Palm Print. The end. Sole Society has a ton of seriously good options – see below for all of my favs.
bag: Sole Society Kerry Fringe Bag c/o – it has fringe, is a cross-body bag and has enough room for a diaper, baggy of wipes, wallet, phone and a snack…so. There’s nothing more to say. Oh! I guess there is one more cool thing to mention. You can also detach the strap and carry it as a clutch, for those random times your baby-free.
necklace: Old, but this deco statement necklace would do the trick
Shop Sole Society (to boost those basics, yo)

Cheers,
Cams
ps. Want a good laugh at my expense?…
Anthony had just hit me square in the face. Again, wtf. BOYS.

Love this! So effortless.
Thanks, Kelly…it was easy and made me feel good!
I’ve been on the hunt for some great easy white t-shirts, so thank you!
Also…that last picture? I die.
haha! Yehhhhh, he’s a feisty one. So glad I could help with the tee ;).
This look is so great! I love!
Cheers, Sara!
I like how your necklace matches the shoes slightly. Currently obsessed with rose gold so found rose gold necklace and low comfy rose gold sandals (https://factory.jcrew.com/womens-clothing/shoes/sandals/PRDOVR~C1177/C1177.jsp?color_name=rose-gold-crackle) to rock all summer with everything basic. You are right, so easy and awesome!
That sounds awesome…and looooove the sandals.
Yayyy! I have these shoes in a wedge and loved them, and I felt a little more normal (less fashion bloggery) when wearing them with casual outfits. They run a tiny bit narrow, for anyone looking at them
EXACTLY…could easily be worn with a skirt or dress, but not exactly everyday friendly and definitely more bloggery ;).
and YES, they are very narrow at the toe.
This was a great read — sometimes the little tweaks have a big impact & just translate so well into everyday life. Soooo helpful. Love the photos too – taking it to a whole ‘nother level in the last pic!
Hi, Jenny! Yep, my favorite outfits are the easy ones. Cheers!
Sooooooo I am obsessing about those shoes in the Blue Raspberry print and am going to plan a wedding outfit around them. But! The sizing thing is throwing me off. You say you’d order up half a size, but the website and the reviews say they run half a size large and recommend ordering down. Halp! Anyone else care to weigh in?
I knowwww…I saw that too and GRRRR…makes it difficult to decide. I would say go up a half size, if not a whole size…if your foot isn’t super small and thin. My feet are long, but definitely wider at the toes. It made the shoes a bit tight for me. Hope that helps!!
Thanks! I’m tempted to just split the difference and order my regular size to try them out…
Now it’s time to think about a dress!
Love this whole look. It’s so effortless, yet pulled together!

Thank you, Ruth!
Cams, there’s really not that much to say except for YOU ARE SO COOL!
I love everything about the outfit, and your pictures with Anthony are precious!
Super post!
Love,

PS Now off to Sole Society to copy cat you.
😉 did you find anything you love?!
As a boy mom of 2, I rarely stay calm and collected for long. I’m mostly just worn out. 🙂
I am beginning to see that… 😀 Goodness! He is on the go…and NOT happy when I stop him or change his course. Thanks, Kelly! 😉
