What’cha doing this weekend?  We’re probably going to hit Morgan’s Pier (our fav summer pop-up in Philly and where all pics in this article were taken), or the newcomer this summer, Spruce Street Harbor Park.  Have you been?  It’s…AMAZING.  And I just heard that Spruce St. is going to stay open for another month!  Yay!  (The food is way better at Morgan’s Pier, but Spruce Street has those hammocks….and nets over the river to sit in….hmmmm…maybe we’ll have to hit both.  Now THAT’S a good weekend.)

We’re also trying to get ready for school next week….and getting two boys out of the house for an 8:35 and 9:00 schools start times seems….totally out of reach.  Completely impossible.  I have no idea how.  WE WILL SEE, I suppose.  Pax wants the Later Gater backpack from MadPax which seems appropriate.  Any advice???

On that note, the Happiest Home published a round-up of books for kids just starting school (including Ramona the Pest…yesssss)

Apartment Therapy makes me want to install a swing and a climbing wall inside our house.  It’s fun and….GORGEOUS.

While browsing for school lunch ideas, I found this recipe for Lemon-parm popcorn.  I think I could make it vegan by swapping the parmesan for nutritional yeast (which tastes cheesy, if you’ve never used it before).  I could seriously start a whole other blog called WAYS I EAT POPCORN.  (Clearly, I wasn’t that successful on the school lunch front.  Anyone have a site they love?)

But let’s get to the sales!!

Everyone is having labor day sales this year.  I added a bunch of pieces to the sale shop, but wanted to highlight my absolute favorites.

Anthropologie – especially for the jeans.  Take an additional 20% already reduced items, and don’t miss MiH’s high-waisted, straight leg denim (I own these in a darker wash, size down)….or AG’s Stevie (my fav everyday jean)…or these Current/Elliott boyfriend jeans with cool thread/patch detail.

Nordstrom – if you missed out on the Vince slip-on sneakers during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale, they’re back.  Actually, there’s a few pieces from the Anniversary sale that have been restocked and are on sale again.  Specifically these faux-leather trousers that I  keep debating and the overalls I love.

JCrew – 25% off certain fall styles and an additional 25% off final sale items.  I especially love the patched jeans, the printed leather loafers (or metallic), and the cropped short-sleeve tee.  Layer the cropped tee over a button-down shirt for a seriously cute work-or-weekend look.  Also?  Toile sweatpants.

LOFT is offering 50% off of Fall styles which is especially exciting because it includes their modern loungewear line, Lou and Gray.  I’m dying over these striped shorts and this sweater dress.  I also really like this camo sweatshirt.

Saks OFF 5th Ave is offering 40% off your entire purchase (and everything is already marked down).  This is a great time to pick up a pair of coated denim, these bad@ss Ash moto boots, and this oversized, color-block sweater.  (Or this cardigan if you’re nursing.)   And OH HELP – they have kid’s stuff.  Including our family fav, the K-Way windbreaker.  I guess I know what I’m doing tonight.

I’ve added a few of the sale pieces to the Maternity, Nursing/Postpartum and Kids shops as well.

  1. For awesome school lunches, check out “This Lunch Rox” (thislunchrox.com)
I use it as ideas for my own lunches too (well, maybe not the fun shapes and stuff…)

  2. For school lunches I go to Wendolonia (wendolonia.com). It’s a bento site so it’s a little overwhelming to see all her pretty lunches, but she gives good ideas for food, you just don’t have to make it super pretty. I definitely don’t and my kids could care less if their sandwiches are shaped like dinosaurs but they do appreciate the variety. Good luck getting to school on time 🙂

  3. Momables.com and 100daysofrealfood.com are both good sources for inspiration on healthy school lunches. Are you vegan? I think both of those offer modifications if so, although not necessarily geared to that. I am vegetarian and find many ideas that I can use.

  4. So excited for all the great lunch ideas being shared – I need them! Love Pinterest for finding ideas. My kids’ fave find last year (via KiwiCrate, I think?) was: whole grain waffles spread with cream cheese and fresh, sliced berries. Yummmm!

Now, can we discuss how freaking cool you make “jeans & a T shirt” please? Seriously.

  5. Can you share what kind of product you use in your hair. It looks like we have similar texture and cut (is your hair super thick?) and i’m struggling to find a good product that keeps it cute and in place and not like a puffy frizzy mess after it’s dried. Thx!
