I struggled with the title of this one. I started with ‘The Denim Suit of My Dreams’ and then realized that I physically recoiled when reading the title, so clearly THAT didn’t work. “Match Your Denim” sounded both underwhelming and slightly precious, so I then defaulted to my normal mode of overly long titles: “Not As Bad As It Sounds: Light-wash Jeans + A Denim Jacket That Almost Matches” then became “Flares + Denim Jacket = Almost Matching Gold” and finally: “TRY THIS OR ELSE: Light-wash Flares + Soft Denim Jacket”.
In the end, I went with the one fact that brought us here: I have, literally, worn these light-wash flares and insanely soft denim jacket — together — six times in the last two weeks. I take this as a reallllllly good sign.
A Matching Denim Suit
Or, better yet, *almost* matching your flares to your jean jacket.
I’ve gotta thank my sister for the flare find. These are the wide-leg GRLFRND jeans that Scotti first covered, here. They are every bit as soft and comfortable as Scotti promised, with a perfect freaking wash and high-rise. If you check out our IG stories (@themomedit), I’ve been popping a few outfits featuring these jeans up on stories (see our Outfit category). Typically with a graphic tee.
The jacket, however….SWOON. It…it rivals my leather jacket in terms of versatility and style, I kid you not. It IS insanely expensive for a denim jacket, but it’s so soft and comfortable — more like wearing a cardigan — yet the fit is perfection. The details (the uneven hem) gives it a slight edge, and this is probably one of the best purchases I’ve ever made.
jacket: L’Agence Janelle Mojave Denim Jacket in Light Blue Wash (size small) – So. This particular wash is exclusive to Intermix, but if you want this exact denim jacket, my strong recommendation is to just buy it there. If you’ve never shopped at Intermix before, they have free shipping and return shipping, and if you click through, there’s *probably* a 15% off offer if you sign up for their email list. TAKE IT. That said, L’Agence does have this exact denim jacket available in a few other washes, which I’ve rounded up below (as well as a few other options that are less expensive).
silk cami: Cami NYC Lace-Trimmed Silk Cami (size small) – I’m a huge fan of Cami NYC’s silk camis, but they are pricy. Here are a few other options at varying price points:
shoes: UGG Platform Wedges from last year. UGG Sandals are suuuuper comfy, year after year, so I’d check out this year’s UGG Carine Platform Sandal or UGG Camilla Wedge Sandal (these are the closest to mine).
This combo has been a good one for me: comfy, easy (it works with alllll the t-shirts), yet still feels current. Note that I still haven’t cut the jeans off for sneakers yet…instead, I’m getting addicted to my comfy platform heels. (And taking Ubers, if we’re being totally honest.) That IS the annoying part about flares: hem to WHICH SHOE???
