Have you heard of Shop BURU? It’s an online boutique owned by my friend, Morgan Hutchinson. She started it way back in 2014, and her original intention was to stock chic, nursing-friendly pieces. If you’ve been a really long-time reader (yes, this is a test) you might remember this post. It was the beginning of my love affair.
Things have changed since then. Many of the brands Morgan originally stocked increased their prices dramatically over the last several years, meaning that many of us couldn’t (or wouldn’t) take the plunge — especially for what one might arguably consider a ‘transition’ piece. Nobody nurses forever (not even in Denver, haha — love you hippie mamas), so Morgan wanted to make a change. Morgan launched BURU White Label a couple of years ago, with pieces hand-picked by her fabulous self. Her focus is finding pieces that elevate our everyday uniform, yet are machine washable…and available at attainable price points.
Even more recently, Morgan started to design her own line. BURU Pink label is Morgan through and through. She recently described her style as “Overdressed and sticky-finger resilient”— and YES. An apt description. Right now the BURU Pink Label is all on sale (so stock is low), but totally worth checking out. I’ll let you guys know when the new stuff comes in. It’s gonna be good.
For now, however, let’s focus on BURU White Label. It’s Feb, it’s cold, and a few new pieces (at a happy price point) are juuuuust what we need. AND….take 20% off with code MOMEDIT20!!!
A Cropped Vegan Moto Jacket That’s Giving Me Life
It’s faux suede, which means that it’s really, really soft and it looks much more expensive than it is. I’m also loving the cropped shape with high-rise jeans and even dresses. You’ll be seeing more of this one, SOON.
NOTE: I’m wearing the jacket with a pair of BURU White label jeans (and striped tee). Bold move, Morgan, sending the denim snob jeans. But…I actually like them! They’re straight-leg, not skinny, and with an uneven hem that is somehow just perfect. A totally on-trend cut.
Vive La Mere!
Long-live the mother! This sweater is trimmed in something fluffy, which adds a glam element I wasn’t expecting. A portion of the sales from this top go to Bring Change To Mind — an organization dedicated to ending the stigma around mental illness (a cause close to Morgan’s heart). Cute, easy, and runs a bit big. (Same jeans as before…)
The Cheeriest-Ever Moto Jacket
Laura started me on this…egg yolky yellow kick. It’s surprisingly easy to wear, and looks especially good with gray. More soon.
You Know I Like My Dramatic Skirts….
…because they look so good with turtlenecks and t-shirts. I mean, come ON. This look is a JOY to wear. And one you can easily wear through Spring/Summer. Just add a white tee or a little tank top. Done. (I think Morgan may have styled hers as a swim coverup because she’s fabulous like that.) Also, the skirt is under $100.
The Cropped White Carpenter Jeans Because CARPENTER JEANS
There is never a time when carpenter jeans won’t make me happy. And these off-white babies with brown contrast stitching (SWOON) are making everything feel fresh again. Here’s how I’m wearing them now…later…and then this summer. I have BIG PLANS FOR THE CARPENTER JEANS YOU GUYS.
The Track Suit My Sister Stole From Me
It has a matching jacket…but I cannot show you because, true to form, Scotti stole it. I think she meant to take the pants too, but MWAH HA HA she forgot them. Apparently it’s “for mom” so I can’t get mad at her, but she’s been a scheming little clothes thief since 1992, so I’ll let YOU decide. #sisters. Anyway, this set is cute, comfy, and so stinking easy.
The Romper That Matches My Bed
I’m obsessed with this thing. It’s an amazing combination of sexy and ridiculous, yet totally works. It’s a sweater-y material, though, so it might get too hot eventually. For some reason, it makes me want to pose like this:
