I’m an extreme creature of habit. So when the new line-up of fall Birkenstocks comes out each year, the question is always…are the new Birkenstock trends, styles & colors worthy of replacing my oldie-but-goodie fall Birkenstock favorites?
And for Fall 2026? There are definitely some strong contenders for joining my wear-on-repeat rotation. Looking at the fall-line-up as a whole, I’m seeing five big Birkenstock trends this year and some VERY exciting new colors, textures & styles happening in the Birkenstock world.
While I work through the boxes and boxes of the latest Birkenstocks, I want to give you fellow Birkenstock-lovers a sneak peek at the Birkenstock trends I’m seeing and my initial thoughts.

From new fall colors to updated textures to fresh takes on the beloved classics, the selection and variety of fall Birkenstocks is seriously impressive. It’s a BEAST trying to narrow down my favorite picks.

Note: Shearling-lined Birkenstocks are some of my favorite Birkenstocks to wear in the fall, but I’m not seeing much new in the shearling styles yet. Here’s hoping for a big new drop in Birkenstock’s shearling section soon!
1. Chocolate Brown Birkenstocks: More Styles Than Ever
This is the Birkenstock fall trend for 2026 I am personally MOST excited about. I love wearing rich dark chocolate brown in the fall, and Birkenstock is finally carrying a huge selection of styles in the most luxe-looking brown hues. After trying on MANY already, I can confidently say these dark brown Birks are even richer and warmer and yummy looking in person. I will absolutely be wearing chocolate brown Birks this fall, but this category is especially difficult for selecting just one. You kind of can’t go wrong. So far…I’ve loved them all.

- Birkenstock Buckley Braided ( Zappos | Birkenstock | Bloomies ): My old Birkenstock Buckleys have been a most-worn-Birkenstock-of-fall for years. I love the loafer-inspired clog look, and the slimmer silhouette (compared to the Bostons) is easier for me to wear. I had a feeling the newest braided detail and gorgeous carafe color would be a win for me too. I do wish, however, they offered these new Buckleys with a shearling lining (hint, hint, Birkenstock..if you’re reading!).
- Birkenstock Lomas ( Birkenstock | Staud ): Clean, simple, but definitely not boring. As I look at rows of new Birkenstocks lined up in my bedroom right now, I find myself gravitating toward the Loma style. The suede is really soft, the carafe brown is beautiful, and I really like the velcro strap detailing on this style.
2. Berry & Burgundy Birkenstocks: Fall’s Big Color Trend
While the dark chocolate brown colorway trend is my personal favorite for fall 2026, I can definitely admit that the new Birkenstocks in “pepper” (which is a warm burgundy-berry) add a significant energy to the fall Birkenstock line-up. If you live in a warm climate, and want the most BEAUTIFUL, water-friendly (and budget-friendly) fall Birkenstocks, the EVA Arizonas in Zinfandel are also a total “wow.”
The new Birkenstock pepper color is very interesting…it has warm earthy undertones, but still has the essence of berry/burgundy. Perfect if you are a pink or lavender wearer, but want to warm those tones up a bit for fall. This color plays extremely well with browns and fall creams and looks great with denim as well.

- Birkenstock Boston Rivets ( Zappos | Birkenstock | Anthro ): Several new fall colors available in the Boston Rivets this year (and I of course LOVE the chocolate brown), but I was surprised by how much I liked the Boston Rivets in “pepper” as well.
- Birkenstock Boston Chunky ( Zappos | Birkenstock ): I love the way the chunky sole on the Boston Chunky Birkenstock offsets the warmth and softness of Birkenstock’s new pepper color. The chunky Birks also look great with this season’s baggy and wide-leg jeans, and they add some height for full-length pants too.
3. Croc-Embossed Birkenstocks: So GORG!
I will admit this section is a little silly seeing that I’m calling out one new shoe in the Birkenstock 2026 line-up as a “fall trend”. These new crocodile embossed Arizona sandals, however, are so wildly pretty and chic that they need their own section. Birkenstock did a great job with the croc-embossed leather and creating a crocodile patterned shoe that reads classy and elegant (not at all cheesy). They’re perfect for those fall days when it’s still steamy weather, but you’re dying to wear all the deep moody fall colors.

- Birkenstock Croc-Embossed Arizona ( Zappos | Birkenstock | Anthro ): Easy choice…as of publish, the croc-embossed colorway/material does come in the Gizeh style as well, but those feel too summery for me. Hoping to see this crocodile-embossed line expand but for now…I will 100% be wearing these Arizonas this fall.
4. Birkenstock Clogs: Way Beyond The Bostons
Birkenstock has come a LONG way when it comes to expanding their clog style selections beyond just the Boston. And I’m totally on-board with the variety! I like the classic Boston clog style just fine, but they’ve never been my favorite and I’ve always gravitated more toward the Buckley style. Now, however…we have the chic and simple Amsterdam wrapped clogs, the loafer-inspired Buckley and Naples, the velcro Lomas, the criss-cross buckled Blairs, and a ton of variations on the original Bostons themselves to choose from. Woohoo for comfortable slip-on clog variety!!!

My Top Birkenstock Clogs (Beyond The Boston) Picks
- Birkenstock Buckley ( Birkenstock | Zappos | DSW ): I will likely ALWAYS love the Birkenstock Buckley. The new Buckley Braided in dark chocolate brown (carafe) is looking like it will be a personal top pick for fall 2026, but the Buckleys (even the old styles) are just a great comfortable Birkenstock clog in general, and I wear my shearling-lined ones each and every fall like clockwork.
- Birkenstock Lomas ( Birkenstock | Staud ): The Lomas do not scream fabulous and exciting, but I still really like them. There’s something about the clean and simple lines, and the velcro strap gives them just a bit of interest. The suede is soft, they come in beautiful colors (Staud and Birkenstock’s recent collaboration expanded the colorways even more), and they’re of course super comfortable.
5. Birkenstock Naples Clogs: Finally In Stock
At this exact time last year, I was doing anything and everything possible to get my hands on a pair of Birkenstock Naples clogs to review for you guys. And now…finally…this fall, they’re in stock and available (as of publish) pretty much everywhere. A huge change from last fall.
The Naples became an “it” fall shoe last year for a reason. They’re a really nice classic-looking shoe, the wrapped leather on the sides looks super luxe and elevated, they have Birkenstock’s beloved contoured supportive and comfortable footbed, and now they come in a much wider array of colorways and materials. So if you’re a Naples fan, you’re in luck this fall!

- Birkenstock Naples Clog In Suede ( Zappos | Birkenstock | Evereve | Anthro ): Pick your favorite color (there are several to choose from now). The Naples are available in some leather colorways as well, but they’re hard to find in stock and I actually like the soft suede I think even better. I’m so happy for Birkenstock fans that they’re now in stock and available at several retailers.
- Don’t Hate Me For This One (At Birkenstock): Just for fun, take a look at these Birkenstock Naples from Birkenstock 1774 collection. Even more expensive than the “regular Birks” — which are not cheap to start with– but these Naples 1774’s are pretty darn gorgeous for sure. I don’t typically include 1774 collections in my Birkenstock posts because they ARE wildly expensive and often sell out fast, but if you’re a Birkenstock-lover, it is kind of fun to take a look at the whole 1774 collection.
