Are These Shoes Mules or Flats? (And Graphic Tees Always)

Motherhood is a balance between doing what’s good and doing what keeps everyone sane. Some days you’re right on time everywhere, everything falls in place, no one has a meltdown… and some days you’re just trying to make it until bedtime without completely losing it.

And while a pair of shoes isn’t going to do school pick-up for you or anything, a slip-on style might just save you a few seconds when you’re already running late (says #worldsokayestmom). Sole Society has some lovely, quality slip on flats that I checked out…while spoiling Sienna with Valentine’s Day donuts. And I have to say, I’m in love.

We love our fancy donuts in Portland and Blue Star doesn’t disappoint. It was a perfect post-pickup treat. Our favorite this time was the Raspberry Rosemary Buttermilk and the Blueberry Bourbon Basil is always delicious. The Creme Brûlée donut even has a shot of Cointreau with it. This World’s Okayest Mom decided against letting the toddler choose that one this time around.

Tee – World’s Okayest Mom – Black with white version here, gray with black text here. I love both and ain’t it the #truth most days. (Black version runs very small. I’m wearing a Large and it’s just a little big)

Jacket – BlankNYC Easy Rider Faux Leather Jacket – Best ever. Fits true to size. Wearing a Small.

Jeans – Madewell 9″ High Rise Skinny Jeans in Black Sea – My favorite jeans ever. I wear them so often I may need to get a second pair. I cropped mine a bit more after buying.

Mules – Sole Society Jameson Flats (c/0) – These flats are so good and a style I’m seeing everywhere for spring. I’ll be honest that I have trouble with many slip-on flats. I’m such a boot girl. I keep trying on different ballet flats when spring and summer roll around and they just aren’t quite me. But this black pair that’s somewhere between a flat and an oxford, yes please. The front is a soft, but sturdy leather and the back heel is the softest leather that can be worn on the heel or collapsed for a slip-on look.

Sunglasses – Target Women’s Round Sunglasses – I like trying out an inexpensive pair of sunnies when I’m going with a new shape. Loving these!

Earrings – Sole Society Gold Plated Bar Earrings (c/o) – These are lovely and perfect for wearing everyday. They look great horizontally or vertically, which is a cool feature.

Bag – Sole Society Finch Bag (c/o) – I love this bag. It’s a great size for holding more than your average clutch, but still small enough to throw in your suitcase for travel. Can easily be worn crossbody, too. Comes in ivory and cognac, as well.

On Sienna:

Top – Old FabKidsThis one is similar.

Overalls dress – Gap Overalls Dress – One of my favorite things I’ve gotten for Sienna. Perfect with knee socks 🙂

Socks – Gap Kitty Cat Knee Socks (similar)

Boots – Hunter Toddler Chelsea – In purple here and in black here

Let’s Talk About These Shoes

I loved pairing these preppier flats with grungier pieces, like the moto jacket, ripped jeans and graphic tee. I think it balances out their sleekness and makes them more my style. They’ll go great with any of my ankle length or cropped pants or jeans and I’m pretty sure this combo will become one of my go-to outfits on the reg.

This particular pair was special because of the fold-down back.  I love the look and idea of mules…but sometimes I need mobility.  These shoes also come in camel or ivory.

Graphic Tees To Make You Smile

Long live donut dates…

Thank you to Sole Society for sponsoring this post. They have some seriously cute shoes and accessories for spring that will totally up your style from okayest to world’s-greatest. As always, all opinions are my own and I did have a choice in which items to try out.
