I remember seeing my mom read a copy of Nora Ephron’s I Feel Bad About My Neck when I was younger and not understanding the title. At all. Unfortunately…I get it now. I feel like my neck is aging faster than anything else, probably because the skin on our necks is thinner and more delicate. I recently started using a neck mask that I *think* is helping? It never occurred to me that there might be a specific mask for the neck but it makes so much sense. Neck, you will be ignored NO MORE.
You may know I’m makeup obsessed, but I’ve never really been much into skin care…until the last few years. As I get older, all those nights of not washing my face (and ignoring the skin on my neck) really start to add up. I’m learning that no amount of makeup can take the place of good skin care. (Seems obvious now, but I’m stubborn like that.) I recently tried several products from the Skinn Cosmetics line and was really impressed. Skinn Cosmetics was founded in 2002 by a fellow makeup artist (holla!) who had a sneaking suspicion that the reason most skincare products were so expensive had nothing to do with what was actually in the jar, and everything to do with fancy advertising and glossy packaging costs. So he started a skincare line using old-school, proven ingredients, with a low-cost distribution model – no fancy retail stores or ads, for example. Which is where HSN comes in.
Right now, HSN is running an awesome special deal on the Skinn Cosmetics PEP40 2PC Set. The set includes a serum and a cream (more info below) that can be used both morning AND night and is on sale for $59 (retail value of $127). Usually, the cream alone is $59, so this is a really good time to try them both.
This serum is made to be used both morning and night and is formulated with SKINN’s “Multi-Matrix 40% proprietary peptide complex” that has been shown in pilot studies to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and optimize skin’s elasticity. The literature says that it provides skin hydration and helps to temporarily tighten, plump and firm the look of skin. My take? It makes your skin look and feel amazing.
Like the serum, this cream is made for use in the AM and PM. It should be layered over the serum and is formulated with powerful fruit acids, hyaluronic acids, and other key ingredients that “provide hydration and moisture for the skin while boosting the look of radiance.” Hyaluronic acid caught my eye because I’ve been reading about how important it is in maintaining hydrated skin (fine lines and wrinkles aren’t as visibly harsh on hydrated skin). This cream hydrates your skin and makes it feel soft without leaving it greasy. (I use a bit more at night when I’m going to bed and it has time to absorb all night.)
Other Favorites Worth Considering…
I don’t think any skin care regimen – no matter how simple – can be complete without some sort of exfoliation treatment. As we age, the rate at which we shed the top layer of dead and dull skin cells slows down. Exfoliating helps cleanse the skin of that dead dry skin and brightens the look of your skin. This Microderm Abrasion Treatment is so refreshing (thanks to the essential oils including peppermint) and leaves your skin ridiculously soft and smooth . . . and definitely looking brighter.
This is the leave-on neck mask specifically designed for the skin of the delicate neck area and is formulated with complexes that have been shown to help improve the look of skin’s radiance. Who doesn’t want a more radiant-looking neck?? I’ve been wearing it for a couple of weeks now and love it. I’m currently layering it over the Face Serum I talked about above, but I’d love to try it over this serum that’s also designed specifically for the neck.
This unique eye serum is separated into two parts; a lighter serum to lift the appearance of the upper lid, and one to smooth, moisturize and brighten the lower lid region. The formulas feel really different from one another, which makes so much sense. Lower lids need extra hydration and brightness, and upper lids need lifting without a bunch of excess moisture. Most serums I’ve tried are too heavy or greasy for the upper lid . . . not this one! It specifically targets the skin it was made for. This is definitely a favorite of mine.
