Well, if you saw my last article, I told you I was a little ‘all about leopard print.’ I wasn’t lying. Here’s another for ya! We love leopard this fall because it’s fun and on-trend, but also because it is so pretty with a variety of colors. To me, it’s the most interesting neutral. Tan is practical, but leopard is tan’s more wild, fun cousin. And this wild, fun cousin pairs beautifully with so many combos, from jewel tones to pastels. The only trick, to me, to finding the right leopard print pieces is to stick to a smaller print and one with a lighter background. These look more chic and expensive than some of the darker, bolder leopard prints. Let’s check out some fun outfit ideas.
Leopard Print Color Combos
Emerald Green Outfit
This is one of my favorite colors to pair with leopard. I’ve already worn essentially this outfit a couple times and love it. The emerald green with the black and the pale yellow background of the leopard is just a winning combo all around. I’m digging this green because I have green eyes, but I swear — it’s a color for fall and winter that looks fabulous on us all.
Sweater – Leith Rib Wrap Sweater – I have this lovely sweater…love it. I got an XS and it fits great. It is cropped, but perfect with high-waisted jeans. Consider going down one size because the wrap is a deep v.
Jeans – Madewell 9″ High Rise Button Fly Skinny – Madewell makes some of my absolute favorite black jeans. There’s something about the fabric and wash that wear in perfectly, and hold you in and are so flattering. TTS
Burgundy/Dark Red Outfit
This color is a classic fall/holiday pairing with leopard print. It can look festive if you want it to, but it’s still totally wearable for everyday, especially if you stick to a darker red/burgundy rather than a Christmas-y red. Stick to a lipstick in the same gorgeous burgundy shade, and bam! — A stunning outfit.
Sweater – J.Crew Tippi Sweater in Leopard – Shana has this and it’s adorable. Love the small print here — more easily wearable for all.
Pants – AG Farrah High Waisted Velvet
Boots – Kendall + Kylie Finch Booties
This is the most weekend-cozy-casual of the pairings and I love love it. I saw that sweater in-store at J.Crew the other day, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. I love the light-washed denim with pastels, and the lighter leopard print works so beautifully with them both. I just tried out this boot in a dark red, and it’s a great shoe…nice lower heel but pointy chic-ness for looking fab.
Sweater – J.Crew Point Sur Chunky Ribbed Sweater
Jeans – Good American Good Legs Ripped Crop Skinny – Scotti loves this brand. I love this wash with the pale peach sweater and leopard boots.
Boots – Sam Edelman Kinsey – I’m super picky about a good leopard print…and this is a good one.
Favorite Leopard Pieces for Fall
Favorite Colors to Wear With Leopard
I’m off to Seattle this weekend to visit my SIL, and go to her company party with a surprise musical guest! Woo! The invite said to dress ‘casual concert chic’ so I’ll be over here figuring out what that is until the last minute before my train ride. Ha. Send me any suggestions over at @elletrain if you have any! I’m thinking…leopard. Haha. Maybe. Let me know of any favorite leopard pieces you’ve found lately, too!
Peace out, friends…
