Ah, Fall. There’s nothing like it. Strolling along the sidewalk, hot coffee in hand, leaves crunching underfoot. (The sun beating down, sweat cascading down your back, the explosion of rage when you check your email and see one more “We’re Falling for FALL!” campaign email featuring sweaters one cannot hope to wear anytime soon.)
Ya know….FALL. 2017 style.
One trick that seems to work OK most days – shady days, or later in the evening days, or the days the East Coast gets a brief respite from 90 degrees days – is to throw on an oversized denim jacket. The proportions here (big jacket, tiny shorts) just works. As a bonus…the stole-this-from-my-boyfriend-Chad-in-1986 vibe is cool enough to make even chino shorts look good (obvi he was the quarterback).
jacket: Madewell similar style available at Nordstrom
tank top: Different versions available from FOSTER LA
chinos: Banana Republic (available in ‘olive’ and ‘oyster’ for up to 70% off)
sandals: See by Chloe (version with heels available for 20% off)
sunglasses: Tory Burch
I’m thinking that I want to try a little double-denim next (oversized denim jacket + denim shorts). And try this jacket over a dress. I think there’s some seriously fun proportion opportunities. Have any of you guys embraced the oversized denim jacket? How are you wearing it?

Hi! I’m reading the reviews on the denim jacket and some say to stick TTS and others say to size down. Which did you do? Thanks!
Hi I would say true to size…I have one
Oh yeah…over a maxi dress, with a sleeveless tunic and knit capris, etc!
